Overview

This document is a user manual for the Yadea G5, G5Pro, and G5S electric scooters, focusing on operation, maintenance, and technical specifications.

Function Description

The Yadea G5 series are electric scooters designed for urban and general road use. They provide an eco-friendly and efficient mode of transportation. The scooters are equipped with a dashboard display that provides essential information to the rider, including speed, battery level, mileage, and various indicators for system status. Key operational features include a power lock switch for turning the scooter on/off and locking the handlebar, a left switch group for controlling high/low beams, turn signals, and the horn, and a right switch group for warning lights and a P-gear switch for starting and locking the protection function. The G5Pro and G5S models offer dual battery options for extended range. The P-gear protection function ensures safety by preventing accidental acceleration when the scooter is stationary and automatically engaging if the motor stops rotating for an extended period.

Usage Features

The manual emphasizes safe and proper operation. Riders are advised to wear safety helmets and protective goggles, undergo proper training, and follow traffic laws. The scooter is designed for a single rider and is not intended for off-road use.

  • Starting the Scooter: Turn the power switch to ON, ensure all lights and switches are working, then lay down the main bracket, and after seating, turn on the power lock and press the P-switch. The display will change from "P" to "GO" indicating it's ready to ride.
  • Braking: It is recommended to brake the rear wheel before the front wheel for optimal effect. Riders should return the throttle quickly and hold the brake handle tightly, braking slowly and then tightening. Sharp braking or turning is dangerous and should be avoided.
  • Battery Carrying: For G5, the battery is located under the footplate. For G5Pro/G5S, there are two batteries, one under the footplate and another under the seat. Access involves opening the seat, closing the air switch, and using the key to open the battery compartment cover.
  • Charging: Connect the battery to the charger, ensuring secure connections. The charger's LED will turn RED during charging and GREEN when fully charged. Disconnect the charger from the wall outlet before disconnecting from the battery.
  • Battery Storage: For short-term storage, keep the scooter in a flat, dry, well-ventilated area, and charge the battery to 50% capacity. For long-term storage, charge the battery to 50% every two months, and ensure it's fully charged before re-use. The battery should be stored in a clean, dry, ventilated place, away from corrosive substances, excessive heat, and open flames. When storing for a long time, remove the battery from the scooter.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the scooter's longevity and safe operation.

  • First Maintenance: One month after purchase.
  • Subsequent Maintenance: Every three months after the last maintenance.
  • Regular Maintenance Schedule: Users are advised to have their scooters checked 2 months after purchase or 500km travelled distance, and then every 6 months or 3000km.
  • Daily Maintenance: Check for any problems and refer to the Home Repair Instructions or contact the dealer.
  • Scooter Washing: Use neutral detergent and water with a soft cloth to prevent scratching. Avoid using a pressure washer, especially around the battery compartment and rear inner mudguard where the charger and controller are located. If the charging port is wet, do not charge until it dries.
  • Inspection Items (Daily, 60 days, 180 days, 360 days):
    • Handlebar rotation (loose/worn parts)
    • Pedal parts (worn/flexible rotation)
    • Tire pressure and wear
    • Lamp bulb brightness
    • Brake shoe wear
    • Wheel rim (deflected)
    • Front fork, frame (deflected)
    • Fasteners (loosened)
    • Brake condition
    • Horn function
    • Charger wire wear
    • Head tube, rear flat fork, and shock absorption connections to the frame.
  • Troubleshooting List: The manual includes a list of common malfunctions, their causes, and troubleshooting steps, such as "No output when switched on" (dead battery, battery not connected), "Motor failure when turning the twist grip" (low battery voltage, power off switch enabled, parking mode not off), and "Battery charge failure" (not properly connected, battery temperature too high/low). It also addresses "Dropping speed or range" (low battery, under-inflated tires, frequent braking, overload, battery aging, low temperature) and "Sudden stop during a ride" (dead battery, fault codes).
  • Original Parts: Users are advised to use original Yadea parts for effective protection and guaranteed quality.
  • Professional Repair: If unable to repair or adjust the scooter independently, send it to an authorized dealer.
