    • M
      Megan RomeroAug 23, 2025
If your Yamaha Receiver fails to turn on or enters standby mode shortly after being powered on, there could be several reasons. First, ensure the power cord is firmly connected to the unit and the outlet. Next, check that the IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch on the rear panel is fully set to either the left or right position while the unit is in standby mode. Finally, the protection circuit might have been activated. In this case, verify that all speaker wire connections are secure and that no wires are touching anything other than their respective connections.

If you're experiencing no sound or picture from your Yamaha Receiver, start by checking the input and output cable connections to ensure they are properly connected and not defective. Then, verify that you have selected the correct input source using the INPUT l / h, 6CH INPUT, or the input selector buttons. Also, check the speaker connections to make sure they are secure and that the correct main speakers are selected with SPEAKERS A and/or B. Finally, ensure the volume is not turned down or muted by pressing MUTE or any operation buttons and adjusting the volume. If you are inputting digital signals, ensure that they are PCM audio, Dolby Digital, or DTS signals that the unit can reproduce.
