Usage Features
The lawnmower is equipped with several features to enhance usability and safety:
- Self-propelled function: Reduces effort required to push the mower.
- Cutting height adjustment: A handle allows for easy adjustment of the cutting height across 7 positions. The manual advises against using the lowest setting for the first cut of the season or in drought conditions, recommending to cut only about one-third of the grass height.
- Grass collection bag: A 55-liter capacity bag collects grass cuttings. An indicator on the bag cover shows when it needs emptying.
- Mulching plug: Allows the mower to function as a mulcher, returning finely chopped grass to the lawn. The manual notes that efficient mulching requires cutting dry, not high or wet, grass.
- Electric starter battery: The engine can be started using an electric starter. The battery requires charging with the supplied Briggs & Stratton battery charger, taking approximately 4 hours for a fully discharged battery. A battery capacity indication button shows the remaining charge.
- Safety key: Must be inserted into the start control box for the engine to operate.
- Start/stop bar: Pulling this bar towards the operator and pressing the START button initiates engine operation. Releasing it stops the engine.
- Drive control bar: Engages the self-propelled drive system when pressed towards the main handle. Releasing it disengages the drive.
- Handle fixing quick clamps and fixing knobs: Used for assembling and securing the handles.
- Front carry handle: Facilitates lifting and transport of the mower.
- Operation on slopes: Users are advised to mow across slopes, never up and down, and to exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes. Mowing excessively steep slopes (over 15°) is not recommended.
- Lighting conditions: The mower should only be operated in daylight or good artificial light.
Maintenance Features
The manual outlines a comprehensive maintenance schedule to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the lawnmower:
- Regular cleaning: The machine should be kept clean and well lubricated. The chute and underside of the deck should be cleared of wet debris. Aggressive cleaning agents, solvents, or high-pressure cleaners should not be used.
- Engine oil: The engine is shipped without oil and must be filled with SAE 30 oil (or equivalent, e.g., 5W 30, 4-stroke lawnmower oil) before first use. The oil level should be checked regularly and maintained between min. and max. marks on the dipstick. The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and at the end of every season.
- Fuel: Only clean, fresh unleaded petrol should be used. The fuel tank should not be overfilled, and refuelling should be done outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from flames or sparks. For extended storage (over 6 weeks), the fuel tank should be emptied, and the engine run until all remaining petrol is used up.
- Air filter: The air filter element should be cleaned regularly by gently tapping it on a hard surface to loosen debris. If excessively dirty, it should be replaced. The engine should never be run without the air filter installed.
- Spark plug: Should be checked, cleaned with a wire brush, and the gap set to 0.51mm. It should be replaced if faulty.
- Cutting blade: Visually inspect the blade, blade bolts, and cutter assembly before each use for wear or damage. Worn or damaged blades and bolts should be replaced in sets to preserve balance. The metal blade should be renewed after 50 hours of mowing or every 2 years. Gloves should be worn when handling the blade due to sharp edges.
- Storage: For short periods, the engine should be allowed to cool, the grass bag emptied, and debris cleaned from under the deck. For extended periods, in addition to the above, the fuel tank should be drained, oil changed, and the cylinder head filled with approximately 20ml of oil before storing in a dry, well-ventilated place.
- Battery care: The electric starter battery and charger should be kept in a dry place out of reach of children. The battery should be fully charged before long-term storage.
- Disposal: The manual provides instructions for the environmentally responsible disposal of the tool, accessories, packaging, used oil, petrol residues, and batteries, advising to use recycling centers and authorized service centers. Batteries contain Li-ion and should not be disposed of with domestic waste or incinerated.
