This document describes the YARD FORCE 40V Cordless Lawnmower, specifically models LM G34, LM G37, and LM G40. It serves as the original instruction manual, providing essential information for assembly, operation, maintenance, and safety.
Function Description
The YARD FORCE 40V Cordless Lawnmower is designed for cutting grass in domestic, trade, or industrial applications. It is a battery-powered machine, offering cordless operation for enhanced mobility and convenience. The lawnmower is equipped with a cutting blade that rotates to efficiently trim grass, and a grass collector to gather clippings. Its design emphasizes ease of use and safety, incorporating features like a safety key to prevent accidental startup and an overload protection system for the motor. The cordless nature of the device means it relies on a 40V Li-ion battery pack, which needs to be charged using a specified charger.
Usage Features
The lawnmower is designed for straightforward operation, with several features aimed at user convenience and safety:
- Assembly: The manual provides clear instructions for assembling the lower handle, attaching it to the lawnmower, mounting the top handle, fitting cable clips, and attaching the grass bag. These steps ensure the machine is correctly set up before first use.
- Battery Charging and Management:
- The battery pack should be fully charged before its first use.
- The charger indicates charging status with LEDs and beeps. A green LED lights up upon connection, and continuous flashing green indicates normal charging. Four green lights on the battery pack indicate a full charge.
- The battery pack has a power indicator (LEDs) to show the remaining charge, staying lit for approximately 4 seconds when checked.
- A low capacity warning is indicated by a flashing red LED on the battery pack when its charge drops below 1%.
- To prolong battery life, it's recommended not to let the battery completely discharge before recharging. Short charges should be avoided, and the battery should be fully charged each time.
- Charging and storage should occur within a temperature range of 5°C to 45°C.
- The battery pack should be allowed to cool down for about 30 minutes after use before recharging.
- Loose metal items should be kept away from battery packs to prevent short-circuiting.
- Cutting Height Adjustment: The lawnmower allows users to change the cutting height by pushing an adjusting lever out of its tooth and then moving it to the desired position. This feature enables customization of grass length.
- Battery Pack Insertion and Removal: The battery pack is inserted by aligning it with its compartment and pushing until a click is heard, indicating it's locked. To remove, the battery pack tank cover is opened, and the release button is pulled.
- Safety Key: A safety key is integrated into the design to prevent accidental startup of the cordless lawnmower. It must be inserted for the mower to operate and removed to disable it.
- Switching On and Off: To switch on, the safety button on the side of the switch box must be pressed and held with one hand, while the switch bar is pulled towards the handle with the other hand. Releasing the switch bar turns the mower off. A warning is given that the blade continues to run for several seconds after the motor is switched off.
- Operation on Slopes: Specific guidelines are provided for operating on slopes, emphasizing caution. Users should mow across the face of slopes, avoid mowing up and down, and exercise extreme caution when changing direction. Mowing on wet grass or excessively steep slopes (greater than 15 degrees) is discouraged.
- Mower Overload Protection: The mower has a built-in overload circuit protection system. If overloaded, the motor will stop. Users should slow down their cutting pace, raise the cut height, or clear any collected grass beneath the deck before restarting.
- Battery High Temperature Protection: If the battery temperature exceeds 70°C during operation, the protection circuit will automatically turn off the mower to prevent damage. The bail handle should be released, and the battery pack allowed to cool before restarting.
- Grass Bag Full Indicator: The lawnmower features a grass bag full indicator. It opens when the bag is empty or not filled and closes when the bag is full, signaling that it's time to empty.
- Emptying the Grass Bag: Instructions are provided for safely removing and emptying the grass bag, including switching off the engine and waiting for the blade to stop. The safety flap automatically falls down after removal, closing off the rear chute opening. Users are advised to clean any grass residue in the discharge chute or mower casing using a brush or broom.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the lawnmower:
- Safety Precautions: Before any maintenance or cleaning, the battery pack/safety key must be removed, and the machine allowed to cool down with the blade stopped completely. Heavy-duty gloves should be worn when handling sharp objects.
- Cleaning: The product should be cleaned with a soft brush to remove dust and debris. Safety glasses should be worn. The enclosure can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth, but water should not be sprayed directly on the unit to avoid damaging the switch unit and electric motor.
- General Checks: All nuts, bolts, and screws should be kept tight to ensure safe working condition. The grass collector should be frequently checked for wear or deterioration. Worn or damaged parts should be replaced for safety.
- Blade Maintenance:
- The blade bolt nut can be uninstalled using the correct size wrench.
- Heavy gloves should be worn to hold the blade still while turning the wrench anti-clockwise to remove the bolt.
- Replacement blades must be fitted correctly with the marking facing up and pegs aligned. The bolt should be refitted and securely retightened to 20N.m.
- Mowing blades should be re-sharpened or replaced by a recommended Yard Force service center at the end of the mowing season. Unbalanced blades can cause violent vibrations and increase accident risk.
- Battery Maintenance:
- Protect the battery against moisture and water.
- Store the battery within a temperature range of 5°C to 45°C, avoiding direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Clean the battery regularly with a soft, clean, and dry brush.
- If not used for a long time, the battery pack should be charged and discharged once every 6 months to prolong its life.
- Storage: After thorough cleaning and allowing the motor to cool down, the mower should be stored in a dry room. For reduced storage space, the lawnmower can be folded by loosening the quick release lock system on the handles and folding them. The safety key and battery packs must be removed, and cables should not be trapped. If stored vertically, the mower should be positioned in a corner with the blade facing inwards against a wall and secured to prevent it from falling over.
- Transport: The original packaging should be used for shipping whenever possible.
The manual also includes a troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common issues, such as the mower failing to start, stopping, losing power, vibrating abnormally, or cutting unevenly. This comprehensive guide ensures users can maintain their lawnmower effectively for optimal performance and longevity.
