Starting the mower
Connect the plug to the extension cord by fully inserting the plug from the mower into the
receptacle on the extension cord. The lawn mower's plug will only fit into the polarized extension
cord one way. If the plug does not fit into the extension cord properly, reverse the plug. If the plug
still does not fit, obtain a proper polarized extension cord or call the toll-free helpline,
at 1 866 523-5218.
WARNING: This mower is designed to operate on a 15 A circuit. If the mower has difficulty
starting when connected to a circuit that contains a standard 15 A fuse or circuit breaker,
call the toll-free helpline (1 866 523-5218). Do not use a fuse or circuit breaker with higher
Plug the extension cord into a convenient 120 V AC 60 Hz outlet, which can be located either
outdoors or indoors. In order to avoid blowing fuses, use an outlet that is not overloaded. Do not
use oversized fuses without consulting an electrician.
NOTE: The wheels on the mower are set to a low cutting position for shipping purposes. For best
results, raise the cutting position until you determine the height that is best suited to the lawn
that is being mowed.

To start the mower, stand behind it, and pull the release lever in order to raise the switch control lever.
While holding the release lever, grasp the switch control lever and squeeze it against the upper handle.
Once the mower is started, let go of the release lever (see Fig. 5).

Stopping the Motor/Blade
WARNING: The blade will continue to rotate for a few seconds after the motor is shut off. If the motor
does not come to a stop when the motor/blade control handle is released, call the toll-free helpline,
at 1
866 523-5218.
To stop the motor and the blade, release the switch control lever from its position against the upper
handle. The blade and the motor will quickly come to a stop.
NOTE: It is not unusual to hear a high-pitched noise and to see some sparking as the electric motor
decelerates.
