The York Affinity Split-System Heat Pump (Models YZH024 through YZH060, 2 to 5 nominal tons) is an outdoor unit designed to be part of a versatile heat pump system. It is intended for custom matching with various York evaporator sections, which are designed for specific functions such as upflow, downflow, and horizontal left or right applications. The system can be augmented with electric heaters and add-on coils for use with furnaces.
The YZH-Series unit serves as the outdoor component of a split-system heat pump, providing both heating and cooling capabilities. It utilizes R-410A refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly with zero ozone depletion potential. The unit's operation is managed by an exclusive microprocessor-based, on-demand defrost control system. This system optimizes comfort and efficiency by initiating defrost cycles only when necessary and adjusting the balance point to bring on supplemental heat only when required to meet the space load. The control system also includes diagnostic LEDs to guide technicians in troubleshooting and an output signal to alert homeowners via the thermostat in case of improper operating conditions (e.g., high temperature or pressure).
