Overview

This document is a user manual for the Zanussi ZITN323K hob, an induction cooking appliance designed for built-in installation.

Function Description

The Zanussi ZITN323K is an induction hob designed for cooking purposes in a single household domestic indoor environment. It features two induction cooking zones and a control panel for operation. The hob utilizes an electromagnetic field to directly heat the bottom of cookware, with the glass ceramic surface heating up from the cookware's heat.

Key functions include:

  • On/Off: To activate and deactivate the hob.
  • Heat Setting: Allows users to increase or decrease the cooking intensity, ranging from 1 to 9.
  • PowerBoost: Provides additional power to induction cooking zones for a limited period, automatically reverting to the highest heat setting afterward.
  • Timer: A Count Down Timer can be set for individual cooking sessions (00-99 minutes). A Minute Minder function is also available when cooking zones are not active.
  • Pause: Sets all operating cooking zones to the lowest heat setting, locking other control panel symbols.
  • Lock / Child Safety Device: Prevents accidental operation of the hob. The Lock function can be activated while cooking zones are operating to prevent accidental changes to heat settings. The Child Safety Device prevents any operation of the hob when activated.
  • OptiHeat Control (3-step Residual Heat Indicator): Indicates the level of residual heat in hot cooking zones (continue cooking, keep warm, residual heat).
  • Automatic Switch Off: The hob automatically deactivates if all cooking zones are off, no heat setting is selected after activation, or if something is spilled or placed on the control panel for more than 10 seconds.
  • OffSound Control: Allows deactivation and activation of the hob's sounds.
  • Power Management: If multiple zones are active and consumed power exceeds the supply limit, this function divides available power among cooking zones, prioritizing the last selected zone and reducing power to others.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model Identification: ZITN323K
  • Type of Hob: Built-In Hob

Usage Features

  • Cookware Compatibility: Suitable for induction hobs if water boils quickly on the highest setting and a magnet sticks to the bottom. Cookware should have a thick, flat, clean, and dry bottom. Correct materials include cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, and multi-layer bottom with a correct marking. Unsuitable materials include aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, and porcelain.
  • Automatic Cookware Adaptation: Induction cooking zones automatically adapt to the dimension of the cookware bottom.
  • Cooking Zone Efficiency: Related to cookware diameter; smaller diameters receive only part of the generated power.
  • Noise During Operation: Normal noises include crackling (different materials), whistling (high power, different materials), humming (high power), clicking (electric switching), and hissing/buzzing (fan operation). These are not malfunctions.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Use lids on cookware, place cookware centrally on the cooking zone, and use residual heat to keep food warm or melt it. When heating water, use only the necessary amount.
  • Control Panel Operation: Operated via sensor fields. Displays, indicators, and sounds provide feedback on function status.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the hob after each use to prevent deterioration of the surface material.
  • Cleaning Procedure: Switch off the appliance and let it cool down before cleaning. Use a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents. Avoid water spray, steam cleaners, abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents, or metal objects.
  • Removing Spills: Immediately remove melted plastic, plastic foil, salt, sugar, and food with sugar using a special hob scraper to prevent damage and burns.
  • Removing Stains: Once the hob is cool, remove limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration with a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent. For shiny metallic discoloration, use a solution of water with vinegar. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
  • Service: For repairs, contact an Authorised Service Centre and use original spare parts.
  • Disposal: Contact local authorities for disposal information. Disconnect from mains supply and cut off the electrical cable. Recycle packaging and the appliance itself at appropriate facilities.
