Overview

This document is an instruction booklet for a Zanussi ZBF 360 built-in oven, providing comprehensive guidance for its use, maintenance, and installation. It emphasizes safety information, operational procedures, and cleaning instructions to ensure safe and effective use of the appliance.

Function Description

The Zanussi ZBF 360 is a built-in oven designed for domestic cooking. It features a fan oven function, a defrost setting, and a grill. The fan oven circulates hot air evenly, allowing for simultaneous cooking on multiple shelves without flavor transference. This function also offers faster preheating and generally requires lower cooking temperatures compared to conventional ovens, contributing to energy savings. The defrost setting utilizes the oven fan without heat to circulate room temperature air, speeding up the thawing process for delicate foods. The grill function provides top-down heat for browning and toasting.

The oven is equipped with an electronic programmer that allows users to set the time of day, program cooking duration, and set an "end of cooking" time for automatic switch-off. It also includes a "minute minder" function for timed alarms, which operates independently of the oven's cooking functions. Control knobs are provided for selecting oven functions and adjusting the thermostat temperature. A thermostat control light indicates when the oven is heating and maintaining the set temperature. A cooling fan operates during cooking to keep the controls cool and may continue to run after the oven is switched off.

Usage Features

Before first use, the oven requires initial heating without food to eliminate any unpleasant odors. This involves setting the time of day, switching to fan cooking at maximum temperature for about 45 minutes, and then repeating the process with the grill function for 5-10 minutes.

For fan oven cooking, users should turn the oven function control knob to the fan cooking symbol and set the thermostat control to the desired temperature. Shelf positions are not critical, but dishes should be placed centrally on shelves, especially when cooking multiple items. The fan oven is suitable for cooking batches of the same food simultaneously, though browning may be slightly quicker on the top shelf. It can also be used to heat foods through without prior thawing.

When using the grill, the oven door must remain closed. The grill pan handles should be removed during grilling. Users select the grill function and set the thermostat to the required temperature. The grid and grill pan runner position can be adjusted to control the proximity of food to the element, allowing for faster or more gentle cooking. Preheating the grill for a few minutes is recommended for sealing steaks or toasting.

The electronic programmer enables advanced cooking control. To set the time of day, users press the "+" or "-" buttons until the desired time is displayed. The "Cooking Duration" function allows the oven to switch off automatically after a set period. Users select this function, set the duration, and the oven will turn off with an acoustic alarm when the time is up. The "End of cooking" function allows users to program a specific time for the oven to switch off. These two functions can be combined to set the oven to switch on and off automatically at a later time. The "Minute minder" function sets an alarm for a timed period without affecting oven operation. The display can also be switched off if no other functions are active.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential for maintaining the oven's performance and safety. Before cleaning, the oven should be cool and disconnected from the electricity supply. The appliance cannot be cleaned with steam.

For external cleaning, the control panel, oven door, and door seal should be wiped with a soft cloth dampened with warm soapy water. Harsh abrasives, bleach, and certain cleaning pads (e.g., Brillo/Ajax, steel wool, chemical oven pads, aerosols, rust removers) should be avoided on door glass panels to prevent damage. The outer and inner door glass can be cleaned with warm soapy water, or a proprietary oven cleaner like Hob Brite for heavy soiling. It is crucial not to clean the oven door while the glass panels are warm to prevent shattering. Chipped or deeply scratched glass panels must be replaced.

For the oven cavity, cleaning is best done while the oven is still warm. A soft cloth with warm soapy water can be used after each use. For more thorough cleaning, a proprietary oven cleaner can be applied. To soften set-on soilage, a method involves placing the grill/meat pan with warm soapy water in the lowest runner, closing the door, setting the oven to fan cooking at 50°C for 15 minutes, and then allowing it to cool before cleaning.

Oven shelves can be soaked in warm soapy water and cleaned with a soap-impregnated pad, then rinsed and dried.

The oven features a hinged grill element for easier cleaning of the oven roof. To access the roof, users must unscrew the grill element, gently pull it downward, clean the roof, and then firmly push the element back into place and secure it with the holding nuts.

Replacing the oven light requires disconnecting the appliance from the electricity supply. The glass cover is turned anticlockwise, the faulty bulb is removed and replaced with a new one (15W, 230-240V, 50Hz, 300°C resistant, E14 connection type), and the glass cover is refitted.
