Overview

This document is a user manual for a Zanussi cooker, specifically models ZCK68300B, ZCK68300W, and ZCK68300X. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, daily use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the appliance.

Function Description

The Zanussi cooker is a freestanding appliance designed for household cooking. It features a hob with four gas burners and two ovens: a top oven and a main oven. The appliance is equipped with an electronic programmer for the main oven, allowing for precise control over cooking duration and end time.

Hob: The hob features four gas burners:

  • 1 Rapid burner
  • 2 Semi-rapid burners
  • 1 Auxiliary burner

It includes a spark generator for ignition and a thermocouple safety device that interrupts the gas supply if the flame goes out. A lid safety device is also incorporated, which cuts off the gas supply to the hob when the lid is closed.

Top Oven: The top oven is smaller and suitable for cooking smaller quantities of food, particularly fruitcakes, sweets, savoury flans, or quiches. Its functions include:

  • Off position: Turns the oven off.
  • Oven Lamp: Activates the oven light without a cooking function.
  • Conventional Cooking: For baking and roasting food on one shelf position.
  • Dual Circuit Grill: For grilling medium quantities of food in the middle of the shelf and making toasts.
  • Full Grill: For grilling flat food and toasting bread.

Main Oven: The main oven is larger and suitable for cooking larger quantities of food. Its functions include:

  • Off position: Turns the oven off.
  • Oven Lamp: Activates the oven light without a cooking function.
  • Defrost: For defrosting frozen food.
  • Thermaflow®: For baking on up to two shelf positions simultaneously and drying food. This function allows for lower temperature settings (20-40 °C lower than Conventional Cooking).

The main oven also features a cooling fan that activates automatically during operation to keep appliance surfaces cool and may continue to operate after deactivation until the appliance cools down.

Setting the Time: The time must be set before operating the main oven. The indicator for the Time of Day function flashes when the appliance is connected to power, after a power cut, or if the timer is not set. Use the + or - buttons to set the time.

Clock Functions (Main Oven Only):

  • Time of day: To set, change, or check the current time.
  • Minute Minder: To set a countdown time (does not affect oven operation).
  • Duration: To set the cooking time of the oven.
  • End: To set the time of day when the oven should deactivate. These functions can be combined to activate the oven with a delay.

Hob Operation:

  • To ignite a burner, push and turn the knob to the position and hold for up to 10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to warm up.
  • Adjust the flame after it is regular.
  • In case of electricity absence, a burner can be lit manually with a flame.
  • Always use stable cookware with the correct shape and diameter, placed centrally on the burner.
  • Turn the knob to the off position 0 to extinguish the flame.

Grilling:

  • Always grill with the oven door closed.
  • Use the maximum temperature setting for grilling.
  • Place the deep pan in the first shelf position to collect fat.
  • Grill only flat pieces of meat or fish.
  • Preheat the oven with grill functions for 5 minutes.

Energy Saving Tips:

  • Keep the oven door closed during operation.
  • Use metal dishes.
  • Put food into the oven without preheating when possible.
  • For cooking durations longer than 30 minutes, reduce the oven temperature 3-10 minutes before the end of cooking time to use residual heat.
  • Use residual heat to warm up other foods.
  • Use fan-assisted cooking functions when possible.
  • For keeping food warm, choose the lowest possible temperature setting.
  • On the hob, use only the necessary amount of water, always use lids on cookware, and use a pressure cooker if possible.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Clean the appliance regularly to prevent deterioration of surface material and fire risk from fat/food accumulation.
  • Use a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents. Avoid abrasive products, sharp metal scrapers, solvents, or metal objects.
  • For the hob, immediately remove melted plastic, plastic foil, and food with sugar to prevent damage.
  • Do not clean burners in the dishwasher.
  • Clean accessories after each use.
  • For stainless steel or aluminium surfaces, use a wet sponge and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid steel wool, acids, or abrasive materials.

Catalytic Cleaning (Main Oven):

  • The main oven walls have a catalytic coating that absorbs fat during operation.
  • To support self-cleaning, heat the empty oven regularly.
  • Before activating catalytic cleaning, remove all accessories.
  • Do not clean catalytic surfaces with oven sprays, abrasive cleaning agents, soap, or other cleaning agents.

Removing and Cleaning Door Glasses: Instructions are provided for both top and main ovens, though the specific type and shape of glass panels may vary by product model. The process involves opening the door, releasing clip seals, and removing the door trim and glass panels for cleaning.

Replacing the Lamp:

  • Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before replacing the lamp to avoid electric shock.
  • The lamp and glass cover can be hot.
  • Turn the lamp glass cover counterclockwise to remove it.
  • Replace with a suitable 300 °C heat-resistant oven lamp of the same type.

Troubleshooting: The manual includes a table for common problems, possible causes, and remedies, such as issues with activation, burner operation, oven heating, and clock functions. For unresolved issues, users are advised to contact their dealer or an Authorised Service Centre, providing data from the rating plate located on the front frame of the appliance cavity.
