Overview

This document is a user manual for the Zanussi ZFP316S Cooker Hood, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, maintenance, and safety.

The cooker hood is designed for domestic use above hobs, cookers, and similar cooking devices in an indoor environment. It can also be used in offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, farm guest houses, and other similar accommodations where usage levels do not exceed average domestic usage. The appliance is intended to extract smoke and steam generated during cooking, improving air quality in the kitchen.

Function Description:

The cooker hood features a control panel with four main buttons:

  • First Speed (1): Activates the fan at the lowest speed level, suitable for heating up food or cooking with covered pots.
  • Second Speed (2): Activates the fan at a medium speed level, recommended for cooking with covered pots on multiple cooking zones or burners, or gentle frying.
  • Third Speed (3): Activates the fan at the highest speed level, ideal for boiling and frying large quantities of food without a lid, or cooking on multiple cooking zones or burners.
  • Lamp (4): Turns the integrated lights on and off, illuminating the cooking surface independently of the fan functions.

The hood operates by pulling out its drawer by more than 5 cm, which exposes the control panel. To activate the fan, the user presses the "First Speed" button. The fan speed can then be adjusted as needed by pressing the desired speed button. The hood remembers the last fan speed setting when the drawer is closed and will resume operation at that speed when the drawer is pulled out again. To turn off the fan, the user can either press the "First Speed" button again or simply close the hood drawer.

Usage Features:

  • Recommended Operation Time: It is advised to leave the hood operating for approximately 15 minutes after cooking to ensure complete removal of residual fumes and odors.
  • Independent Lighting: The hood's light functions independently of the fan speeds, allowing users to illuminate their cooking area even when the fan is not in use.
  • Drawer-Activated Control: The control panel becomes accessible only when the hood's drawer is pulled out, providing a streamlined and integrated design.
  • Memory Function: The hood retains the last fan speed setting, offering convenience for recurring cooking tasks.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the efficient and safe operation of the cooker hood.

  • Cleaning the Appliance Surface: The appliance should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent. Abrasive detergents, brushes, steam cleaners, water sprays, harsh abrasive cleaners, or sharp metal scrapers should not be used as they can damage the surface material. After cooking, especially when parts of the appliance may be hot, it should be allowed to cool down and then dried with a clean cloth or paper towels to prevent stains.
  • Cleaning Grease Filters: Grease filters should be cleaned regularly, at least every two months, to prevent the accumulation of fat and reduce the risk of fire. The filters are mounted with clips and pins and can be removed by pressing the mounting clip, slightly tilting the filter downwards, and then pulling it out. They can be cleaned with a sponge using non-abrasive detergents or in a dishwasher. If using a dishwasher, it should be set to a low temperature and a short cycle. Discoloration of the grease filter in a dishwasher is normal and does not affect its performance. To remount the filters, the removal steps should be followed in reverse order.
  • Replacing Charcoal Filters (if applicable): The charcoal filter is not washable and cannot be regenerated. Its saturation time varies depending on cooking type and grease filter cleaning regularity. It should be replaced approximately every 4 to 6 months, or more frequently with heavy usage. To replace, first remove the grease filters. Then, turn the charcoal filter counterclockwise and pull it out. New filters are mounted by reversing these steps. It is necessary to replace charcoal filters at least every four months.
  • Lamp Replacement: The appliance is equipped with an LED lamp and a separate LED driver. These components can only be replaced by a qualified technician. In case of a malfunction, users are advised to contact an Authorized Service Centre.
  • Interior Cleaning: The interior of the appliance should be cleaned with a cloth.

Safety Information:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Installation: Installation must be performed by a qualified person, following the provided instructions. All packaging, labeling, and protective film must be removed before installation. The appliance should be installed in a safe and suitable place, ensuring the minimum distance between the hob surface and the lower part of the appliance is at least 65 cm, unless otherwise specified. Fixing screws supplied with the appliance or recommended in the instructions must be used.
  • Electrical Connection: All electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician, ensuring compatibility with mains power supply parameters. The appliance must be earthed and connected to a correctly installed shockproof socket. Multi-plug adapters and extension cables should not be used. The mains cable should not be pulled to disconnect the appliance; instead, the mains plug should be pulled.
  • General Use: The appliance is for cooking purposes only and should not be used for other purposes. It should not be operated with wet hands or when in contact with water. Only accessories supplied with the appliance should be used. Flames or heated objects should be kept away from fats and oils during cooking. Uncovered electric grills should not be used. The appliance should not be used as a storage surface.
  • Children and Vulnerable People: Children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, can use the appliance under supervision and after understanding the hazards. Children under 8 years and those with extensive disabilities should be kept away unless continuously supervised. Children should not clean or perform user maintenance without supervision. Packaging materials should be kept away from children.
  • Ventilation: Ventilation openings must not be blocked. Air collected by the appliance should not be conveyed into a duct used to exhaust smoke and steam from other appliances. Good air ventilation in the room is essential to prevent backflow of gases from other fuel-burning appliances.
  • Disposal: The appliance should be disconnected from the mains supply, and the electrical cable cut off before disposal. Users should contact their municipal authority for information on proper disposal and recycling of electrical and electronic appliances.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common issues, such as the appliance not activating, the fuse being blown, the lamp not operating, or insufficient vapor absorption. For more complex issues or repairs, users are directed to contact an Authorized Service Centre and use original spare parts.
