Usage Features
The Zanussi ZNTN18ES5 offers several features to enhance food preservation and user convenience:
- Control Panel: Located at the top of the appliance, featuring a display, temperature warmer/colder buttons for both fridge and freezer, OK button, Mode button, and ON/OFF button.
- Temperature Regulation: Users can set desired temperatures for both fridge and freezer compartments using dedicated buttons. The display shows the set temperature.
- FastCool Function: Accelerates the chilling of large amounts of warm food in the fridge compartment, preventing other stored food from warming. It runs automatically for approximately 6 hours or can be deactivated manually.
- FastFreeze Function: Used for pre-freezing and fast freezing fresh food in the freezer compartment. It helps accelerate freezing and protects existing frozen food from warming. It runs automatically for 52 hours or can be deactivated manually. It is recommended to activate 24 hours before placing food to be frozen.
- Holiday Mode: Allows the fridge compartment to remain empty during long holidays, reducing odor formation, while the freezer operates normally. This mode switches off when a different temperature is selected.
- DYNAMICAIR Function: Equipped in the refrigerator compartment for rapid cooling and more uniform temperature distribution. It activates automatically when needed or can be switched on manually. The fan operates only when the door is closed.
- ChildLock Function: Locks the control panel buttons to prevent unintentional operation.
- DrinksChill Function: Sets an acoustic alarm for a preferred time (1 to 90 minutes) to remind users about items placed in the freezer for fast cooling or for recipe timing.
- High Temperature Alarm: Activates with flashing indicators and an audible sound if the freezer temperature increases (e.g., due to a power failure). The sound can be muted, and the alarm indicator flashes until normal conditions are restored.
- Door Open Alarm: Activates with an audible sound and flashing alarm indicator if the fridge door is left open for approximately 5 minutes. The alarm stops when the door is closed, and the sound can be muted.
- Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls have runners, allowing shelves to be positioned at different heights for flexible storage. The glass shelf above the vegetable drawer should not be moved to ensure correct air circulation.
- Vegetable Drawers: Special drawers at the bottom for storing fruits and vegetables.
- Ice-cube Production: Includes trays for making ice cubes. Metallic instruments should not be used to remove trays.
- Door Reversibility: The door can be reversed; instructions are provided in a separate document.
Maintenance Features
- Cleaning the Interior: Before first use, the interior and accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and neutral soap, then dried thoroughly. Abrasive products, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should not be used. Accessories are not suitable for dishwashers.
- Periodic Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. This includes cleaning the inside and accessories with lukewarm water and neutral soap, checking and wiping door seals, and rinsing/drying thoroughly.
- Defrosting the Refrigerator: Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator. Defrost water drains into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. The defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel must be periodically cleaned using the provided tube cleaner to prevent water overflow.
- Defrosting the Freezer: The freezer compartment is frost-free, meaning no frost build-up occurs on internal walls or food during operation.
- Period of Non-Operation: If the appliance is not in use for a long period, it should be disconnected from electricity, all food removed, cleaned, and accessories cleaned. The doors should be left open to prevent unpleasant smells.
- Service: For repairs, contact an Authorized Service Centre and use original spare parts. Self-repair or non-professional repair may void the guarantee.
- Disposal: The appliance should be disconnected from the mains supply, the mains cable cut off and discarded, and the door removed to prevent children or pets from being trapped. The refrigerant circuit and insulation materials are ozone-friendly, and the insulation foam contains flammable gas. Disposal should be done according to municipal authority guidelines. Electrical and electronic waste should be recycled and not disposed of with household waste.
