Overview

This document is a user manual for a Zanussi oven, covering models ZOHKF1X1, ZOHNF1K1, and ZOHNF1W1. It provides comprehensive instructions on installation, daily use, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the appliance.

Function Description

The Zanussi oven is designed for single household domestic use in an indoor environment, primarily for cooking purposes. It offers a variety of heating functions to cater to different cooking needs, including baking, roasting, grilling, and defrosting. The oven is equipped with a control panel, knobs for heating functions, temperature control, and a timer, along with a power lamp and temperature indicator.

Key heating functions include:

  • Moist Fan Baking: This function is designed to save energy during cooking. The temperature in the cavity may differ from the set temperature, and heating power may be reduced. It is recommended for cakes and other baked goods where energy efficiency is desired.
  • Fan Cooking: Ideal for roasting and baking food with the same cooking temperature on multiple shelf positions without flavour transference.
  • Turbo Grilling: Suitable for roasting large meat joints or poultry with bones on one shelf position, as well as making gratins and browning dishes.
  • Bottom Heat: Used for baking cakes with a crispy bottom and for preserving food.
  • Pizza Function: Specifically designed for baking pizza, achieving intensive browning and a crispy bottom. The recommended temperature for this function is 230°C.
  • Light: Activates the internal oven lamp.
  • Defrost: For defrosting food items like vegetables and fruit. The defrosting time varies depending on the amount and size of the frozen food.
  • Conventional Cooking / Aqua Clean: This function is for baking and roasting food on one shelf position. It also refers to the Aqua Clean cleaning procedure, which uses humidity to remove fat and food particles.

The oven also features a cooling fan that automatically turns on during operation to keep the appliance surfaces cool. It continues to operate until the appliance cools down after being turned off. A safety thermostat is integrated to prevent dangerous overheating by interrupting the power supply and automatically restarting when the temperature drops.

Usage Features

The oven is designed for ease of use with clear controls and indicators. Before first use, it is essential to clean the oven and accessories, then preheat the empty oven at maximum temperature for 1 hour, followed by 15 minutes, to eliminate any manufacturing odours or smoke.

Setting a heating function involves turning the knob to select the desired function, then using the control knob to set the temperature. To turn off the oven, both knobs should be returned to the off position.

The oven includes a timer function for setting a switch-off time for cooking. Users can set the oven function and temperature, then turn the timer knob to its full range before setting the desired switch-off time. The oven will turn off automatically when the set time ends, accompanied by an audible signal. For cooking without a set time, the timer knob should be returned to its initial position.

Accessories, such as the wire shelf and baking tray, are designed for safe and easy insertion. The wire shelf has a small indentation at the top that acts as an anti-tip device, and a high rim to prevent cookware from slipping. When inserting, ensure the feet point down.

Cooking recommendations are provided for various food types, including cakes, meat, and fish, with suggested temperatures, cooking times, and shelf positions. For optimal baking, it's advised not to open the oven door before 3/4 of the set cooking time has passed. When using multiple baking trays, an empty level should be kept between them. For roasting, adding water to a deep pan can prevent excessive smoke and condensation.

Energy-saving tips are also included, such as keeping the oven door closed during operation, avoiding frequent opening, ensuring the door gasket is clean and well-fixed, and using metal cookware. Preheating the oven is generally not necessary, and breaks between baking should be minimized when preparing multiple dishes. Utilizing fan cooking functions and residual heat towards the end of cooking can further enhance energy efficiency.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and cleaning are crucial for maintaining the appliance's performance and longevity. Before any maintenance, the oven must be cold and disconnected from the mains supply to prevent injury, fire, or electric shock.

General Cleaning:

  • The front of the appliance should be cleaned with a microfibre cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent.
  • Metal surfaces can be cleaned using a specialized cleaning solution.
  • Stains should be cleaned with a mild detergent.
  • The cavity should be cleaned after each use to prevent fat accumulation, which can pose a fire risk.
  • Moisture condensation on the door glass panels can be reduced by operating the appliance for 10 minutes before cooking.
  • Accessories should be cleaned after each use with a microfibre cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent, and then dried. Abrasive cleaners or sharp-edged objects should not be used on non-stick accessories.

Aqua Clean Procedure: This procedure utilizes humidity to loosen remaining fat and food particles.

  1. Pour 300 ml of water into the cavity embossment.
  2. Set the oven function to "Conventional Cooking / Aqua Clean" and the temperature to 90°C.
  3. Let the oven operate for 30 minutes.
  4. Turn off the oven and allow it to cool down.
  5. Dry the cavity with a soft cloth.

Removing Shelf Supports: Shelf supports can be removed for thorough cleaning.

  1. Turn off the oven and wait until it is cold.
  2. Pull the front of the shelf support away from the side wall.
  3. Pull the rear end of the shelf support away from the side wall and remove it.
  4. Reinstall in the opposite sequence.

Removing and Installing the Oven Door: The oven door has two glass panels that can be removed for cleaning.

  1. Open the door fully and hold both hinges.
  2. Lift and pull the latches until they click.
  3. Close the door halfway, then lift and pull to remove it from its seat.
  4. Place the door on a soft, stable surface.
  5. Hold the door trim on the top edge, push inwards to release the clip seal, and pull the trim to the front to remove it.
  6. Hold the door glass panel by its top edge and carefully pull it out, ensuring it slides out of the supports completely.
  7. Clean the glass panels with water and soap, then dry them carefully. Do not clean them in a dishwasher.
  8. After cleaning, install the glass panel and the oven door. Ensure the screen-printing zone faces the inner side of the door and that the door trim clicks when installed correctly.

Replacing the Lamp:

  1. Turn off the oven and wait until it is cold.
  2. Disconnect the oven from the mains.
  3. Place a cloth on the bottom of the cavity.
  4. Turn the glass cover to remove it.
  5. Clean the glass cover.
  6. Replace the lamp with a suitable 300°C heat-resistant lamp. Always hold the halogen lamp with a cloth to prevent grease residue from burning.
  7. Install the glass cover.

The manual emphasizes contacting an Authorised Service Centre for any issues not covered in the troubleshooting section or for damaged parts like the door gasket. It also advises against using abrasive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers on the glass door to prevent scratches and potential shattering.
