Overview

This document is an instruction booklet for the Zanussi ZPB 1260 Built-In Oven. It covers installation, operation, safety, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Zanussi ZPB 1260 is a built-in electric oven designed for cooking edible foodstuff. It features an electronic programmer that controls various cooking functions, temperature settings, and automatic timing. The oven includes a cooling fan that operates during cooking and may continue to run after the oven is switched off to keep controls cool. A safety thermostat is integrated to prevent overheating by cutting off power in case of a malfunction.

The oven offers a range of cooking functions:

  • Fan cooking: Roasting or baking simultaneously on any shelf without flavor transference. Pre-set temperature: 175 °C.
  • Conventional cooking: Heat from both top and bottom elements for even heating. Pre-set temperature: 200 °C (maximum 285 °C).
  • Full Grill: Full grill element on, recommended for large quantities. Pre-set temperature: 250 °C.
  • Grill: For grilling small quantities. Pre-set temperature: 250 °C.
  • Thermal Grilling: Grill element and oven fan operate together, circulating hot air. Pre-set temperature: 180 °C (maximum 200 °C).
  • Pizza Oven: Bottom element provides direct heat to the base, while the fan circulates air for toppings/fillings. Pre-set temperature: 175 °C.
  • Bottom heating element: Heat from the bottom only for finishing dishes. Pre-set temperature: 250 °C.
  • Top heating element: Heat from the top only for finishing dishes. Pre-set temperature: 250 °C.
  • Defrosting: Oven fan operates without heat, circulating air at room temperature, suitable for delicate foods.
  • Pyrolytic cleaning: Thoroughly cleans the oven cavity by burning food residuals at high temperatures.

Special functions include:

  • Child lock: Locks oven controls to prevent accidental activation.
  • Beep on touch: Activates an audible feedback for button presses.
  • Demo mode: Demonstrates oven functionality without power consumption (except the oven lamp).
  • "Fast Heat Up" (Booster): Reaches the required temperature in a shorter time.
  • Residual Heat Function: Automatically switches off a few minutes before the end of a programmed cooking duration, using residual heat to finish dishes and save energy. This function does not operate if the cooking duration is less than 15 minutes.

The oven can be programmed to switch off automatically after a set cooking duration, or to switch on and off at specific times.

Usage Features

  • Control Panel: Features push buttons for ON/OFF, cooking functions, fast heat up, pyrolytic function, decreasing/increasing control (time or temperature), and time function.
  • Shelf Positions: Multiple levels for oven shelves to optimize cooking results (1 to 4 from bottom to top).
  • Temperature Adjustment: Temperature can be adjusted in 5-degree steps using the "-" and "+" buttons. A thermometer symbol on the display indicates the oven's current heating status.
  • Minute Minder: Can be set for up to 23 hours 59 minutes. The oven does not switch off when the minute minder is in use.
  • Cooking Guidelines: Always cook with the oven door closed. Use oven gloves for safety. Do not place baking trays or aluminum foil directly on the oven base. Supervise cooking with fat or oil to prevent fire.
  • Steam Recycling System: Produces a natural circulation of air and constant recycling of steam, allowing cooking in a steamy environment, keeping dishes soft inside and crusty outside, and reducing cooking time and energy consumption.
  • Pre-heating: A short oven pre-heating (about 10 minutes) is recommended, especially for cakes or baking, and to reduce condensation.
  • Cooking Tables: Provides recommended cooking levels, temperatures, and times for various dishes (cakes, pastries, bread, pizza, meat, fish) for both traditional and fan-ducted cooking, as well as grilling and thermal grilling.
  • Multi-dish cooking: When cooking more than one dish simultaneously, specific shelf levels are recommended.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning the Oven:
    • Always allow the cooling fan to cool the oven down before switching off.
    • Do not use steam or steam cleaning machines.
    • Keep the oven clean to prevent fat/foodstuff build-up, which could lead to fire.
    • Avoid household detergents, bleaches, impregnated pads unsuitable for non-stick saucepans, Brillo/Ajax pads, steel wool pads, chemical oven pads/aerosols, rust removers, and bath/sink stain removers for external and door glass cleaning.
    • Use a soft cloth with warm water and mild washing-up liquid for control panel, oven door, and door seal.
    • For heavily soiled inner door glass, a cleaning product like Hob Brite is recommended. Do not use paint scrapers.
    • Do not clean the oven door while the glass panels are warm to prevent shattering.
  • Pyrolytic Cleaning:
    • Two levels: Pyrolytic 1 (2 hours duration) for lightly dirty ovens, Pyrolytic 2 (2.5 hours duration) for very dirty ovens.
    • Before starting, remove excessive spillage and ensure the oven is empty of all accessories.
    • The oven door automatically locks during the cycle and remains locked until the oven cools down.
    • It is advisable to wipe the oven with a soft sponge after each pyrolytic cycle.
    • The hob should not be used while pyrolytic cleaning is active to prevent overheating.
  • Replacing the Oven Light:
    • Requires disconnecting the oven from the electrical supply.
    • Turn the glass cover anticlockwise, remove the faulty bulb, replace with a new E14 40W 230V 300°C bulb, refit the glass cover, and reconnect power.
  • Cleaning the Oven Door:
    • The oven door can be removed and disassembled (four glasses) for easier cleaning.
    • To remove: Open the door completely, unlock levers on hinges, slowly turn the door halfway closed, and pull it away from the frame.
    • To disassemble: Remove two screws on the sides of the oven door, extract the inner glass support, and gently extract the three inner glasses (uppermost first).
    • The two middle glasses are special heat-resistant glasses, marked with a small dot and a black frame. Ensure correct re-fitting: black frame downwards, dot in the upper left corner.
    • Clean door glass with warm water and a soft cloth; avoid harsh abrasives.
    • Do not clean door glass while warm. If glass panels are chipped or scratched, they must be replaced by a Service Force Centre.
