Function Description
The Zanussi Microwave Oven is designed for cooking purposes, primarily for single household domestic use in an indoor environment. It features both microwave and grill functions, allowing for a variety of cooking methods including heating, reheating, defrosting, melting, popcorn preparation, and grilling. The appliance is equipped with a control panel, retractable knobs, and a display to manage its functions.

Internal Lighting:
- The product contains a light source of energy efficiency class G.
- Uses lamps with specific specifications suitable for household appliances, not for general room illumination.
Safety Features:
- Automatic switch-off: For safety, if a heating function is active and no settings are changed, the appliance will automatically turn off after a certain period (e.g., 12.5 hours for 30-115°C, 8.5 hours for 120-195°C, 5.5 hours for 200-230°C). This feature does not apply to Light or Time Delay functions.
- Cooling fan: Operates automatically during use to keep surfaces cool and may continue after the appliance is turned off until it cools down.
- Lock function: Prevents accidental changes to appliance functions. Can be activated when the appliance is on (cooking continues, control panel locked) or off (cannot be turned on, control panel locked). Activated by pressing and holding a button for 3 seconds.
Usage Features
Control Panel:
- Features retractable knobs for selecting heating functions and adjusting settings.
- A display shows key functions, duration, microwave power, and various indicators (Lock, Assisted Cooking, Settings, Microwave function, Minute minder, End time, Time Delay, Uptimer).
- A progress bar indicates temperature or time, turning fully red when the set temperature is reached.
Accessories:
- Turntable set: Used for preparing food. Consists of a roller guide and a glass plate. Always cook food on the turntable set.
- Grill rack set: Used for grilling. Placed with silicon caps down on the turntable set.
Setting Functions:
- Heating functions: Selected by turning a knob. Examples include Grill, Microwave, Liquid (800-1000W for drinks/soups), Reheat (300-700W for meals/delicate food), Defrost (100-200W for meat/fish/cakes), Melting (100-400W for chocolate/butter), Popcorn (700-1000W), Grill High (100-500W for browning), Grill Low (100-500W for casseroles).
- Microwave functions: Selected via the heating functions knob. Default settings can be started with OK, then duration and power can be adjusted. Cooking settings can be changed during operation. If the door is opened, the microwave function pauses and resumes when the door is closed and OK is pressed.
- Assisted Cooking: A menu with recommended heating functions and default settings for specific dishes. Time can be adjusted during cooking.
- Clock functions:
- Time of day: Set via the menu (Settings, Time of day).
- Minute minder: Sets a timer that signals when it ends. Available for Grill, Grill Low, Grill High.
- Cooking time: Sets a duration for cooking, after which the heating function stops. Available for Grill, Grill Low, Grill High.
- Time Delay: Postpones the start/end of cooking. Available for Grill.
- Uptimer: Can be turned on/off via Menu, Settings.
Microwave Suitable Cookware and Materials:
- Suitable: Ovenproof glass/porcelain (no metal), non-ovenproof glass/porcelain (no silver/gold/platinum/metal decorations), ovenproof/frost-proof glass/ceramic, ceramic/earthenware (no quartz/metal components/metal-containing glazes), heat-resistant plastic up to 200°C, cardboard/paper, microwave clingfilm, roasting film with microwave-safe closure.
- Not suitable: Roasting dishes made of metal (enamel, cast iron), baking tins (black lacquer or silicon-coated), cookware for microwave use (crisp pan).
- Always use microwave-suitable cookware and place it in the middle of the turntable. Avoid direct contact of food with the turntable.
Cooking Recommendations:
- Stir or turn food halfway through defrosting/cooking.
- Stir liquid dishes frequently.
- Cover food for cooking/reheating.
- Pierce yolks of fried eggs before reheating.
- Pierce food with skin or peel several times before cooking.
- Cut vegetables into similar-sized pieces.
- Allow food to stand for a few minutes after cooking for even heat distribution.
- For defrosting, place unwrapped food on an upturned plate with a container below or on a defrosting rack/sieve to collect liquid. Remove defrosted pieces as they thaw.
Maintenance Features
Care and Cleaning:
- General: Disconnect from power before maintenance. Ensure appliance is cold before cleaning. Clean regularly to prevent deterioration of surface material.
- Cavity: Clean after each use to prevent fat accumulation and residue. Wipe dry with a microfibre cloth after each use to prevent corrosion from steam.
- Front: Clean with a microfibre cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent.
- Metal surfaces: Use a cleaning solution.
- Stains: Clean with a mild detergent.
- Accessories: Clean after each use and let dry. Wait until the turntable is cold before cleaning to prevent breakage. Do not clean non-stick accessories with abrasive cleaners or sharp objects. Do not clean accessories in a dishwasher.
- Door glass panels: Replace immediately if damaged.
- Door gasket: Keep clean and well-fixed.
- Do not use: Steam cleaners, harsh abrasive cleaners, sharp metal scrapers on the glass door.
- If using oven spray, follow safety instructions on its packaging.
Troubleshooting:
- The manual provides a table for common issues (appliance not turning on/heating up, lamp not working, turntable noise) and their solutions (check electrical connection, automatic switch-off, fuse, Lock function, food residue).
- For error codes or issues not listed, turn off and on the house fuse. If the problem persists, contact an Authorised Service Centre.
- The rating plate (on the front frame of the appliance cavity) contains necessary service data (Model, Product number, Serial number). Do not remove it.
Energy Efficiency:
- Keep the appliance door closed during operation and avoid opening it too often.
- Keep the door gasket clean and well-fixed.
- Do not preheat the appliance before cooking when possible.
- Keep breaks between baking short when preparing multiple dishes.
- Turn off the lamp during cooking and only turn it on when needed.
