1 General information
1.1 Intended use
The access steps with platform enable height-adjustable access to machines. Access is
via the quadruple-beam steps, which are connected to the telescopic guide via ropes. The
telescopic guide is height-adjustable with a manually operated rack and pinion winch and
secured with safety catches.
The product is designed for the following applications:
• For indoor and limited outdoor use (depending on model)
• With lighting on the platform and surroundings of at least 300 lux (in addition, the re-
spective national specifications must be observed)
• The product is intended for use only by authorised and trained personnel
• Use in compliance with regular security checks
• As a climbing aid providing safe and easy access to working positions at a maximum
height (depending on scope of order)
• Use by a single person
• The operating and maintenance conditions prescribed by the manufacturer must be
complied with
• Personnel must be familiar with the regulations applicable in their country regarding
occupational safety and health protection, accident prevention and the safe assembly
and use of access technology products.
• Trainee personnel must not be allowed to assemble the product unless under supervi-
sion or authorised to do so by skilled personnel.
• Maintenance work may be carried out by personnel after authorisation by the operator.
Maintenance personnel must be authorised in accordance with the regulations which
apply in the country in question.

1.2 Improper use
Any use other than the ones described under “Intended use” is considered improper.
The operator bears sole liability for any damage arising from such use. The following uses,
in particular, are explicitly prohibited:
• Use of the product as a stair tower or to bridge a gap to other access equipment or
buildings
• Use of the product to support other climbing aids or for any work above the specified
maximum height (see order confirmation)
• Use of the product as an attachment point for lifting equipment, hoists or other similar
items
• Use to hoist or transport equipment, material or persons
• Use of the product in areas with explosion risk
• All other types of use not explicitly listed above as an approved intended use
1.3 Important information concerning this manual
The manual is part of the scope of delivery and must be available at all times. If the prod-
uct is passed on, these instructions must be included.
