Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Zodiac Duo-X Robotic Pool Cleaners, specifically covering models DX4050 iQ, DX4000, and DX3000. It provides essential information for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of these robotic pool cleaners.

Function Description:

The Zodiac Duo-X Robotic Pool Cleaners are designed to automatically clean swimming pools. They are capable of cleaning the floor, walls, and waterline of a pool, depending on the model and selected cleaning mode. The DX4050 iQ model offers advanced control features through the iAquaLink™ app, allowing users to manage the cleaner remotely via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The cleaners are equipped with a lift system to assist in retrieval from the pool and a filter canister for debris collection.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Control Unit Supply Voltage: 220-240 VAC, 50 Hz; short circuit-proof safety isolating type.
  • Supply Voltage (Cleaner): 30 V DC.
  • Installed Load: 150 W max.
  • Cable Length: 15 M or 18 M (depending on model).
  • Cleaner Size (WxDxH): 43 x 48 x 27 cm.
  • Weight of Cleaner: 9.5 kg.
  • Packed Weight: 19 kg (DX4050 iQ, DX4000), 14 kg (DX3000).
  • Filtration: All-purpose filter canister.
  • Cycle Lengths: Variable programming.
  • Double Insulation: The cleaner is a double-insulated product, designed to prevent electric shock without relying on a grounded metal casing.
  • Operating Temperature: Do not use if water temperature is above 35° C (95° F) or below 13° C (55° F).
  • RCD Requirement: The cleaner must be supplied through a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current of 30mA for electrical safety.

Usage Features:

  • Cleaning Modes:
    • Floor Only (1h 15 min): Cleans only the pool floor.
    • Floor/Walls/Waterline (2h 30 min): Cleans the floor, walls, and waterline of the pool.
    • Cleaning modes can be selected via the Control Unit's "MODE" button or the iAquaLink™ app (DX4050 iQ).
  • Start/Stop Cleaning: Initiated via the Control Unit button or the iAquaLink™ app. Pressing again interrupts and cancels an in-progress cycle.
  • Adjust Cleaning Time (DX4050 iQ): Cycle time can be increased or decreased in 15-minute increments via the iAquaLink™ app. Minimum run time is 30 minutes, maximum is 3 hours 30 minutes.
  • Lift System: An automated procedure to bring the cleaner to the pool wall for easy retrieval. Activated via the Control Unit's "LIFT SYSTEM" button or the iAquaLink™ app. The cleaner expels water quickly upon removal for lighter handling.
  • iAquaLink™ Control (DX4050 iQ only):
    • Remote control from anywhere via a smartphone app (available on App Store and Google Play).
    • Connects to home Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
    • Allows for starting/stopping cleaning, adjusting cleaning time, selecting cleaning modes, and activating the lift system.
    • Provides in-app error messages and troubleshooting advice.
    • System settings accessible via the app.
  • Safety Features:
    • Automatically stops if powered on but not submerged in water.
    • For pools with a beach area, it drives in reverse back into the pool if the impeller is out of water.
  • Control Unit Standby: Automatically enters standby mode after 5 minutes of inactivity, turning off the display. Pressing any key exits standby mode.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Canister Cleaning: The filter canister should be cleaned after each use. This involves lifting the cleaner cover, removing the filter canister assembly, separating the two filters, emptying debris, and rinsing with a hose. Periodic deep cleaning with soapy water and a soft brush is recommended.
  • Cord Tangling Prevention:
    • Ensure proper installation by placing only enough floating cable in the water to reach the farthest point of the pool, entering near the middle of the pool length.
    • Untangle all kinks and coils in the power cable, starting from the cleaner head, and lay the cable in the sun to loosen any tangling memory.
    • The cleaner is equipped with a tangle-reducing swivel.
  • Brush Replacement: The cleaner is fitted with PVC brushes with a "wear" indicator (a raised groove). Brushes should be replaced when the rubber wears down to the top of the wear indicator or every two years, whichever comes first. Replacement involves standing the cleaner upright, separating the brush edges, undoing tabs, removing the worn brush, positioning the new brush, threading tabs through slots, and cutting tabs to the appropriate length.
  • Storage:
    • Remove the cleaner from the pool after each cleaning cycle.
    • Store on the transport caddy, out of direct sunlight or inclement weather, to allow it to dry quickly.
    • Clean the cleaner regularly with slightly soapy clean water and rinse generously. Do not use solvents.
    • Disconnect from the power source and untangle the cable before coiling it loosely around the caddy hook.
    • Replace the protective cap on the Control Unit.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides detailed troubleshooting tables for flashing LED error codes on the Control Unit and in-app error messages (for iAquaLink™ models), offering possible causes and suggested solutions. General troubleshooting tips are also included for common issues like the cleaner not moving, floating, or tangling.
  • Professional Servicing: For anything other than routine cleaning and maintenance, the product must be serviced by a licensed and qualified pool technician. Do not attempt to repair the robotic cleaner, Control Unit, power cord, or floating cable.
