Overview

This document is a Use & Care Guide for a Zokop window air conditioner, covering models with 15,000 to 24,000 BTU. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Zokop window air conditioner is designed to cool and dehumidify a room. It offers multiple operating modes including Cool, Dry, Fan, and Auto, allowing users to select the most suitable function for their comfort needs. The unit can be installed in a standard double-hung window or through a wall. It features an electronic control panel and a remote control for convenient operation.

Important Technical Specifications

The guide provides specific dimensions for different BTU models to ensure proper fit during installation:

Model Unit Height (inches) Unit Width (inches) Min. Window Opening (inches) Min. Window Width (inches) Max Window Width (inches)
15K/18K 17.91 23.625 19.00 28.00 41.00
22K/24K 18.625 26.50 19.50 30.00 41.00

For thru-the-wall installation, the maximum wall thickness is 8 inches. The required inside frame dimensions are:

  • 15K/18K: Height 18 1/4" (46.4 cm), Width 23 7/8" (60.6 cm)
  • 22K/24K: Height 19 1/2" (49.5 cm), Width 26 9/10" (68.3 cm)

The unit operates within a temperature range of 61°F~88°F (16℃~31°C). It is equipped with an LCDI (Leakage Current Detection and Interruption) power cord, which is a safety feature required by UL. The power supply cord types vary by BTU model: 15K models use a different plug type than 18K/22K/24K models. All units require a grounded 3-prong outlet.

Usage Features

The air conditioner can be controlled via an electronic control panel on the unit or a remote control.

Control Panel and Remote Control Buttons:

  • Digital Display: Shows room temperature in Fan Mode, or set temperature/timer when adjusted.
  • Up/Down Buttons (∧/∨): Adjust Set Temperature or Timer settings.
  • Power Button: Turns the unit on/off.
  • Mode Button: Cycles through Cool, Dry, Fan, and Auto modes.
    • Cool Mode: Cools and dehumidifies the room. Temperature and fan speed are adjustable.
    • Dry Mode: Reduces humidity with alternating cooling cycles and fan operation.
    • Fan Mode: Operates for ventilation only. Fan speed (Hi, Med, Lo) is adjustable.
    • Auto Mode: Automatically selects fan speed and mode (Cool, Dry, or Fan) based on room temperature.
  • Timer Button: Sets a timed stop (Timer Off) or timed start (Timer On) for the unit. The timer can be set from 0.5 to 24 hours.
  • Eco Button: In ECO mode, the unit turns off when the room reaches the set temperature and turns back on when the temperature rises. The fan motor runs intermittently to save energy.
  • Sleep Button: Adjusts temperature and fan speed automatically during the night for comfort, gradually raising the set temperature to 81°F or 82°F. All display lights turn off except the Sleep light.
  • Fan Speed Button: Selects fan speed (Hi, Med, Lo, or Auto) in Cool mode, and Hi, Med, Lo in Fan mode.
  • Filter Button: Resets the "Filter Check" light after cleaning the filter. The light turns on after 500 total hours of fan motor operation.
  • Display Button (Remote Only): Toggles all lights or LED display on/off.
  • Fan Only Button (Remote Only): Activates FAN ONLY mode.

Directional Louvers:

  • Horizontal airflow is controlled by a horizontal wheel.
  • Vertical airflow is controlled by air deflectors.

Normal Operating Sounds:

  • Pinging noise from water hitting the condenser (normal during rain or high humidity).
  • Thermostat click when the compressor cycles.
  • Water collection in the base pan (normal).
  • Fan running even when the compressor is off (normal).

Maintenance Features

Care and Cleaning:

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be checked monthly.
    1. Remove the filter by pulling down on the indents of the filter door.
    2. Wash with liquid dish soap and warm water, rinse thoroughly, and gently shake off excess water.
    3. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinserting.
    4. Alternatively, vacuum the filter to remove dust.
  • Cabinet Cleaning:
    1. Unplug the air conditioner.
    2. Dust with an oil-free cloth or wash with a cloth dampened in warm water and mild liquid soap.
    3. Rinse thoroughly with a damp cloth and wipe dry.
    4. Avoid harsh cleaners, wax, or polish.
    5. Wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around controls to prevent damage.

Winter Storage:

  • For extended periods of non-use, remove the unit from the window according to installation instructions.
  • Cover it with plastic or store it in its original box.

Wear and Tear:

  • To minimize wear, wait at least 3 minutes before changing modes to prevent compressor overheating and circuit breaker tripping.

Troubleshooting: The guide includes a troubleshooting section for common issues:

  • Unit not starting: Check if unplugged, blown fuse/tripped breaker, power failure, or tripped current interrupter device.
  • Unit not cooling: Check for restricted airflow, incorrect temperature setting, dirty air filter, room too warm, cold air escaping, or frozen cooling coils.
  • Unit freezing up: Ice blocking airflow.
  • Remote control not working: Check battery insertion and battery life.
  • Water dripping outside: Normal in hot and humid weather.
  • Water dripping inside: Unit not tilted correctly (should be slightly tilted downward from front to rear).
  • Water collects in base pan: Normal moisture removal.
  • Digital Display reads "E1" or "E2": Indicates a sensor failure, requiring customer service.
