Your Ado PAPR unit is central to keeping you safe as you weld and grind, oering 50 times cleaner air than you would
otherwise breathe unprotected. However, this award-winning level of protection does rely on you being responsible in how
you use and maintain your powered air respirator. Here are some habits to adopt and some to avoid as an Ado user!
Regularly replace spare parts. This boosts productivity and can save you money: for example, when you change
your pre-lter regularly, you extend the life of the particle lter. This will then lighten the workload of the motor and
prolong the Ado battery life, so you can weld for longer.
Make sure you monitor your lters’ condition before each shift: if you notice any damage, or the lter becomes
loaded (shown by the lter load indicator turning red), you must replace it immediately. Plus if you notice a dip in
your respirator’s performance, like a drop in battery operating time, your Ado is most likely being overworked and
needs fresh lters.
For those welding at least 4 hours a day, the below table outlines how often you should change each core spare part.
DO:
1
Charge your battery. After using your Ado system, it’s important to charge your battery. This will not only ensure
you are ready to weld again tomorrow, but also helps prolong the life of the battery itself.
Store your system safely. Your Ado should be stored in a cool, dry place like the Ado storage bag (part no.
790105). When stored for long periods, look to charge your battery every 6 months to keep it ticking over.
Gas and odour lters should also be stored in a sealed bag or container when not in use, as once they’re opened
their maximum use time is 6 months (even if not used). The carbon will absorb contaminants from the general
environment, so make sure you store them correctly to improve the service life.
Keep your PAPR clean. While the Ado system is built for tough conditions, regularly wiping it down with a moist
tissue or cloth helps reduce build up of grit and particles.
It’s also important to know the dierence between general wear and tear and signicant damage. Items like the
breathing tube should be substituted at the rst sign of leakage: that’s why you should consider a heavy-duty rubber
breathing tube (part no. 834017) or ame-resistant cover (part no. 834018) to increase your Ado hoses durability
for work in hard-wearing environments.
