Why is A.O. Smith Water Heater temperature too high?
If the water temperature from your A.O. Smith Water Heater is too high, it may be due to a non-functioning thermostat, a grounded/shorted heating element, or a faulty thermostatic mixing valve. For a non functioning thermostat, replace the ECO (page 30). For a grounded/shorted heating element, replace the heating element (page 29). For a faulty thermostatic mixing valve, check hot water at other faucets.
Why does my A.O. Smith Vortex HPTU-66 smell bad?
If the water from your A.O. Smith Water Heater smells bad, it might be due to a concentration of sulfate in the supply water, little or no dissolved oxygen in the water, sulfate reducing bacteria, or an excess of active hydrogen in the tank. Contact a qualified person for replacement of anode.
