What to do if the Aalborg XFM LCD display is blank?
    • D
      Don SnyderAug 19, 2025
If the Status LED indicator and LCD Display on your Aalborg Measuring Instruments remain blank after powering on, and there's no response from analog outputs, it could be due to a bad or reversed power supply. First, measure the voltage on pins 7 and 5 of the 15 pin D-connector; if the voltage is outside the specified range, replace the power supply. Also, check the polarity; if it's reversed, correct the connection. If the problem persists, the PC board may be defective, requiring you to return the XFM to the factory for repair.

Why does the LCD display fluctuate on Aalborg XFM?
    • B
      Brian WilsonAug 21, 2025
If the LCD Display reading or the 0-5 Vdc analog output signal fluctuates widely during flow measurement with your Aalborg Measuring Instruments, the 0-5 Vdc output signal (pins 2–1 of the D-connector) might be shorted to ground or overloaded. Check the external connections to pins 2–1 of the D-connector and ensure that the load resistance exceeds 1000 Ohm.

What to do if Aalborg XFM Measuring Instruments reading is above maximum?
    • S
      Samuel MercadoAug 25, 2025
If the LCD Display reading exceeds the maximum flow range and the 0-5 Vdc output signal is above 5.0 Vdc while gas flows through your Aalborg Measuring Instruments, the sensor may be experiencing swamping conditions, meaning the flow exceeds the maximum flow rate by more than 10%. Reduce the flow through the XFM to stay within the calibrated range, or shut it down completely. The swamping condition should end automatically. If the issue continues, the PC board may be defective and require factory repair.

Why 4-20 mA output signal doesn't change on Aalborg XFM?
    • G
      gharrisAug 26, 2025
If the LCD Display reading and 0-5 Vdc output voltage correspond to the correct flow range, but the 4-20 mA output signal remains constant (around 4.0 mA) on your Aalborg Measuring Instruments, the external loop might be open, or the load resistance may exceed 500 Ohm. Check the external connections to pins 2 and 15 of the D-connector, ensuring the loop resistance is less than 500 Ohm. If the issue persists, the 4-20 mA output schematic may be damaged, requiring you to return the XFM to the factory for repair.

What to do if Aalborg XFM Measuring Instruments doesn't respond to flow?
    • J
      Joshua SimsAug 28, 2025
If gas flows through your Aalborg Measuring Instruments, but the LCD Display and the 0-5 Vdc output signal do not respond, the gas flow might be too low for the XFM model. Verify the maximum flow range on the transducer’s front panel and adjust the flow accordingly. For XFM 17 models, ensure the RFE is correctly connected to the inlet fitting by unscrewing and reinstalling the inlet compression fitting. Note that calibration accuracy may be affected. If the problem persists, the sensor or PC board may be defective, requiring factory repair.

Why 0-5 Vdc output signal doesn't change on Aalborg Measuring Instruments?
    • K
      Kara ThomasAug 30, 2025
If the LCD Display reading corresponds to the correct flow range, but the 0-5 Vdc output signal does not change (remains the same or near zero) on your Aalborg Measuring Instruments, the 0-5 Vdc schematic may be burned out or damaged, requiring you to return the XFM to the factory for repair. Alternatively, the analog flow output scale and offset variables may be corrupted. Try restoring the original EEPROM scale and offset variables or performing analog output recalibration.

How to fix calibration issues on Aalborg XFM Measuring Instruments?
    • D
      Duane DoyleSep 1, 2025
If the calibration of your Aalborg Measuring Instruments is off by more than ±1.0 % F.S., the XFM may have an initial zero shift. Shut off the gas flow into the XFM, ensuring the gas source is disconnected and there are no leaks. Wait 15 minutes with no flow, then perform the Auto Zero calibration procedure.

What does a constant red Status LED mean on Aalborg Measuring Instruments?
    • K
      Kenneth RichSep 3, 2025
If the Status LED indicator on your Aalborg Measuring Instruments is constantly red, it indicates a Fatal Error (EEPROM or Auto Zero error). First, cycle the power on the XFM. If the red light persists, wait 6 minutes and then initiate the Auto Zero function. If the Fatal Error continues after Zero Calibration, the unit must be returned to the factory for repair.

Why doesn't the 0-5 Vdc signal respond to flow on Aalborg XFM Measuring Instruments?
    • M
      Mary FreemanSep 6, 2025
If gas flows through your Aalborg Measuring Instruments, but the 0-5 Vdc output signal does not respond (reading near 1mV), the direction of gas flow may be reversed. Check the direction indicated by the arrow on the front of the meter and reconnect it correctly. Alternatively, the XFM might be connected with back pressure, and a gas leak could exist in the system. Locate and fix any gas leaks. If the XFM has an internal leak, return it to the factory for repair.

What does rapidly flashing red and amber Status LED mean on Aalborg XFM?
    • J
      john62Sep 7, 2025
If the Status LED indicator on your Aalborg Measuring Instruments is rapidly flashing red and amber, it signifies that the MCU temperature is too high (overload). Disconnect power from the XFM. Ensure the ambient temperature is within the specified range (below 50°C). Allow the device to cool down for at least 15 minutes. Reapply power and check the Status LED. If the overload condition persists, the unit must be returned to the factory for repair.
