8.17 Removing the turbine casing
Dismantling the insulation
Touching hot surfaces or contact with hot operating fluids can cause burns.
Do not touch hot surfaces. Observe the warning plate on the turbo-
charger.
Wear heat-resistant safety gloves and protective clothing.
Wait for the turbocharger to cool down before carrying out any work.
Wear safety gloves to protect against thermal hazards.
The turbine casing insulation supplied by ABB Turbo Systems also serves
as a burst protection
Serious injuries or accidents resulting in fatalities can occur if the turbine
casing insulation supplied by ABB Turbo Systems is removed. A burst pro-
tection is integrated into this turbine casing insulation supplied by ABB Turbo
Systems.
For turbochargers which were ordered from ABB Turbo Systems without in-
sulation, a separate burst protection is fitted.
Turbochargers which were supplied by ABB Turbo Systems with insula-
tion must never be operated without this insulation from ABB Turbo Sys-
tems.
Never operate a turbocharger without burst protection. If the insulation
from ABB Turbo Systems is not installed, the separate burst protection
(51500) must be installed for operation (see View of turbocharger with
part numbers).
