Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual
Please read and save these instructions for future reference. Read carefully before attempting to assemble, install,
operate or maintain the product described. Protect yourself and others by observing all safety information. Failure
to comply with these instructions will result in voiding of the product warranty and may result in personal injury and/
or property damage.
Only qualified personnel should install this fan.
Personnel should have a clear understanding of these
instructions and should be aware of general safety
precautions. Improper installation can result in electric
shock, possible injury due to coming in contact with
moving parts, as well as other potential hazards. Other
considerations may be required if high winds or seismic
activity is present. If more information is needed,
contact a licensed professional engineer before moving
forward.
1. Follow all local electrical and safety codes, as well as
the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National
Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), where applicable.
Follow the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) in
Canada.
2. The rotation of the wheel is critical. It must be free
to rotate without striking or rubbing any stationary
objects.
3. Motor must be securely and adequately grounded.
4. Do not spin fan wheel faster than max cataloged fan
RPM. Adjustments to fan speed significantly affects
motor load. If the fan RPM is changed, the motor
current should be checked to make sure it is not
exceeding the motor nameplate amps.
5. Do not allow the power cable to kink or come in
contact with oil, grease, hot surfaces or chemicals.
Replace cord immediately if damaged.
6. Verify that the power source is compatible with the
equipment.
Direct Drive
Upblast Centrifugal Exhaust Fan
These fans are specifically designed for
roof and wall mounted applications. The
maximum continuous operating temperature
for fan sizes 099-300 is 400°F (204°C) and
for fan sizes 060-095 is 130°F (54°C). Direct
drive fans are available with nominal wheel
diameters ranging from 9 to 30 inches
(229to 762 mm) (060-300 unit sizes). Each
fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer’s
engraved metal nameplate containing the model
number and individual serial number.
Belt Drive
Upblast Centrifugal Exhaust Fan
These fans are specifically designed for
roof and wall mounted applications. The
maximum continuous operating temperature
is 400°F (204°C). Belt drive fans are available
with nominal wheel diameters ranging
from 10 to 48 inches (254 to 1219 mm)
(099-480 unit sizes). Each fan shall bear a
permanently affixed manufacturer’s engraved
metal nameplate containing the model number and
individual serial number.
DANGER
Always disconnect, lock and tag power source before
installing or servicing. Failure to disconnect power
source can result in fire, shock or serious injury.
CAUTION
When servicing the fan, motor may be hot enough
to cause pain or injury. Allow motor to cool before
servicing.
CAUTION
Precaution should be taken in explosive atmospheres.
DANGER
ATTENTION
Faire preuve de précaution dans les atmosphères
explosives.
7. Never open access doors to a duct while the fan is
running.

Why does my Accurex XRUD Direct Drive Ventilation Hood fan not operate?
    • E
      erica55Aug 15, 2025
If your Accurex Ventilation Hood fan isn't operating, start by checking the electrical supply, ensuring the fuses/circuit breakers are functional, all switches are on, and the supply voltage is correct. Then, inspect the drive for broken belts and tighten any loose pulleys or belts. Finally, make sure the motor is the correct horsepower and not tripping the overload protector.

How to troubleshoot reduced airflow in an Accurex Ventilation Hood?
    • M
      Melissa BurgessAug 21, 2025
Reduced airflow in your Accurex Ventilation Hood can be caused by several issues. Check the system for high resistance due to improper operation of backdraft or control dampers, obstructions in the ductwork, or dirty filters. Ensure the unit isn't running backwards. Clean any excessive dirt buildup on the wheels and ensure proper wheel alignment by centering the wheel on the inlet. Inspect and repair any closed dampers. Clean or replace blocked ducts or clogged filters. Replace and adjust tension if there's belt slippage. Finally, check for correct drives if the speed is too slow.

Why is my Accurex XRUD Direct Drive Ventilation Hood showing high horsepower?
    • J
      jerome81Aug 27, 2025
High horsepower in your Accurex Ventilation Hood may be due to fan or duct system issues. Check the rotation of the wheel and reduce the fan speed if necessary. For duct system problems, resize the ductwork, check the proper operation of face and bypass dampers, and inspect the filters and access doors.

How to fix excessive noise or vibration in my Accurex XRUD Direct Drive Ventilation Hood?
    • S
      Scott HoltNov 2, 2025
Excessive noise or vibration in your Accurex Ventilation Hood can stem from several sources. The wheel might be rubbing against the inlet; in this case, adjust the wheel and/or inlet cone and tighten the wheel hub or bearing collars on the shaft. If it's a V-belt drive issue, tighten the pulleys on the motor/fan shaft, adjust the belt tension, and properly align the pulleys. For bearing problems, replace any defective bearings, lubricate them, and tighten collars and fasteners. An unbalanced wheel requires cleaning off all dirt and rebalancing if necessary. If the belts are too tight or too loose, adjust the tension. If the wheel is improperly aligned and rubbing, center it on the inlet. For loose drive or motor pulleys, align and tighten them. Remove any foreign objects from the wheel or ...

What to do if my Accurex XRUD Direct Drive motor overloads or overheats?
    • J
      Jamie HarrisNov 8, 2025
If your Accurex Ventilation Hood's motor is overloading or overheating, it could be due to several factors. Start by checking the bearing for excessive or insufficient grease. If there's mechanical damage, replace the damaged bearing, relieve excessive belt tension, align the bearings, and check for a bent shaft. Belt slippage can also cause this issue, so adjust the tension or replace worn belts. Over or under line voltage requires contacting your power company. Incorrect wheel rotation can cause overheating, so check the motor wiring and confirm the wheel rotation. If the wheel RPM is too high, check the drives or slow down the fan by opening the variable pitch pulley on the motor shaft. An undersized motor can also lead to overloading, so check the motor ratings with the catalog speed a...
