7.3 Subwoofer Phase
With the Phase Switch you can alter the phase of the subwoofer
relative to the satellites. That means to change the polarity of the bass
unit. Depending on the distance between woofer and satellites and
on room acoustics, either 0° or 180° may be the better position. We
recommend to try out what position sounds better within your system,
but in most cases and in conjunction with F5/F7 speakers the phase
switch should be left in the 0° position.
7.4 Satellite Filter
The satellites in a system can be fed full range from the subwoofer
or with a restricted downward range of 80Hz, selectable with a slide
switch on the subwoofer rear panel. If possible, send the main signal
into the subwoofer. Connect your satellites to the subwoofer output,
either via XLR (balanced) or RCA (unbalanced).
When engaging this high pass filter, in many cases clarity and dynamic range of the
speakers can be improved if they do not reproduce very low frequencies since they do not
have to deliver large cone excursions. Further, correct phase and magnitude response of
the combination is assured this way in a typical setup consisting of F-Series components.
Please note that both High Pass switches, on the subwoofer as well as on the satellites,
should be activated for this.
Please note:
At the front of the SubF you will find two LEDs next to the
ADAM logo that indicate the following conditions:
GREEN:
Main power is present and the subwoofer is active.
RED:
Standby Mode, meaning the subwoofer has switched to low power mode with automatic
signal sensing.
