Accessing of the No. 4140

a remote location is protected against comprauise
by someone attempting to defeat the system,
using

levels
of
security
protection:
1. &curity Code Eandahaka: An a-digit
Central
Station ID code must be matched
between the No. 4140 and the Central Station.
2. Haag-up and call back:
Calling the No. 4140 does not directly allow
programming,
a6 a successful handshake merely results in the No. 4140
breaking
the phone line connection and then calling back the (internally
stored) central station service phone ntrmber*.
3. Data Bacryptiom:
Data pessed between the central station and the No.4140
is encrypted for security 60 that it is very difficult for a foreign device
tapped into the phone line to take over cmmunication and substitute system
cuupraPlising information.

Any condition that causes the system to
initiate a call back to a telephone number

reprogrmmed or camanded (in fact.
