Why does communication fail on my Adp 4000 Clock?

  Communication failures with your Adp Clock can stem from a couple of key issues. The communication settings might be incorrect either at the timeclock itself or on the host PC. To check the timeclock settings, go to Maintenance Mode and press the Comm Setting soft key. Verify and correct the Device ID, IP Address, Gateway, and Subnet Mask settings as needed. If problems persist, examine the communication settings on the host PC. Also, ensure that all communication cables are correctly routed and securely connected. If the connections are good, check for any cable defects.

  If the keypad on your Adp Clock isn't working, it could be due to initialization issues or a loose ribbon cable. Try running the Keypad Test at the timeclock: access Maintenance Mode, press the More soft key, then the Keypad Test soft key. Press various keys and observe the results on the screen to determine the exact nature of the problem (for example, is the cable twisted or cut?). Then contact your TLM Representative.

Also, verify that the timeclock is configured to read the correct symbology for your badges by accessing Maintenance Mode, pressing the Symbology Setting soft key, and turning on the appropriate symbology. Ensure the timeclock is enabled for the correct badge reader type and company ID code settings, using the Data Collection Manager (DCM) or Configuration Manager if you're using Enterprise or eTIME as your host application.
