Overview

This document is an installation manual for Airwell YDZC - MULTISPLIT air conditioning units, providing comprehensive instructions for installation, wiring, air evacuation, and maintenance. It is available in English, Dutch, and French.

Function Description:

The Airwell YDZC - MULTISPLIT system is an air conditioning unit designed for residential or commercial use, capable of connecting multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit. It utilizes R32 refrigerant, which is a fluorinated gas covered by the Kyoto Protocol. The system includes an automatic wiring/piping correction function to simplify installation and reduce errors.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant Type: R32
  • Global Warming Potential (GWP) of R32: 675
  • Power Source Voltage: 220-240V~50Hz
  • Compressor Stop/Start Frequency: Stop time of 3 minutes or more.
  • Voltage Fluctuation Tolerance: Within ±10% of rated voltage.
  • Voltage Drop During Start Tolerance: Within ±15% of rated voltage.
  • Interval Unbalance Tolerance: Within ±3% of rated voltage.
  • Outdoor Unit Fuse Specification (for R32 refrigerant only):
    • T20A/250VAC (for <24000Btu/h unit)
    • T30A/250VAC (for >24000Btu/h unit)
    • Fuse material: Ceramic
  • Minimum Pipe Run: 3 meters (to minimize vibration & excessive noise).
  • Minimum Room Area for R32 Refrigerant (based on charged quantity):
    • ≤2.048 kg: 4 m² (for max installation height 1.8m), 35 m² (for max installation height 0.6m)
    • 2.048-3.0 kg: 8 m² (for max installation height 1.8m), 80 m² (for max installation height 0.6m)
    • 3.0 kg: 9 m² (for max installation height 1.8m), 80 m² (for max installation height 0.6m)

  • Maximum Pipe Lengths (for all rooms):
    • 1 drive 2: 30 m
    • 1 drive 3: 45 m
    • 1 drive 4: 60 m
    • 1 drive 5: 75 m
  • Maximum Pipe Length (for one indoor unit):
    • 1 drive 2: 25 m
    • 1 drive 3: 30 m
    • 1 drive 4: 35 m
    • 1 drive 5: 35 m
  • Maximum Height Difference (Outdoor Unit higher than Indoor Unit): 15 m (for all drive configurations)
  • Maximum Height Difference (Outdoor Unit lower than Indoor Unit): 15 m (for all drive configurations)
  • Maximum Height Difference (between indoor units): 10 m (for all drive configurations)
  • Connective Pipe Size (Liquid/Gas, unit: inch):
    • 7K/9K/12K Indoor Unit: 1/4 (Liquid), 3/8 (Gas)
    • 18K Indoor Unit: 1/4 (Liquid), 1/2 (Gas)
    • 24K Indoor Unit: 3/8 (Liquid), 5/8 (Gas)
  • Additional Refrigerant per Pipe Length (R32):
    • Liquid Side Ø 6.35 (Ø 1/4"): 12g/m (Total pipe length - standard pipe lengthxN)
    • Liquid Side Ø 9.52 (Ø 3/8"): 24g/m (Total pipe length - standard pipe lengthxN)
    • Standard pipe length for calculation: 7.5m (24.6')

Usage Features:

  • Multi-split System: Allows connection of 1-5 indoor units to a single outdoor unit, offering flexibility in air conditioning solutions for different room configurations.
  • Automatic Wiring/Piping Correction: Simplifies the installation process by automatically detecting and correcting wiring/piping errors. This function is activated by pressing a "check switch" on the outdoor unit PCB board for 5 seconds until "CE" is displayed. The "CE" disappears after 5-10 minutes, indicating successful correction. This feature requires the outside temperature to be above 5°C and stop valves of liquid and gas pipes to be open.
  • Remote Control Options: Supports both wired and wireless remote controllers, allowing users to choose based on preference.
  • Drain Joint Installation: Includes instructions for installing a drain joint at the bottom of the outdoor unit to redirect water during heating mode, preventing water damage or slipping hazards.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Precautions: Emphasizes the importance of safety during installation, operation, and servicing, including wearing safety glasses, work gloves, and having fire extinguishers nearby when brazing. It also highlights the risks associated with refrigerant leaks (asphyxiation, toxic gas formation when exposed to fire) and electrical hazards.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Provides detailed instructions for proper handling of R32 refrigerant, including preventing emissions, stopping leaks, and ensuring only qualified personnel access and service the product. It also specifies compliance with (EC) Regulation No. 517/2014 and local legislation.
  • Leak Detection System: If installed, the system must be checked for leaks at least every 12 months, with proper record-keeping recommended.
  • Air Evacuation: Detailed instructions for evacuating the refrigeration system using a manifold gauge and vacuum pump, ensuring proper pressure levels and checking for leaks.
  • Adding Refrigerant: Guidelines for adding refrigerant after wiring, vacuuming, and leak testing, emphasizing not to exceed maximum allowable quantities and to use appropriate protective gear.
  • Electrical Safety Checks: Post-installation electrical safety checks include insulated resistance (must be >2MΩ), grounding resistance (must be <4Ω), and electrical leakage checks during test operation.
  • Gas Leak Check: Methods include soap water solution (checking for bubbles) and using a leak detector.
  • Information Servicing: Comprehensive guidelines for maintenance and repair, including checks to the area, work procedures, general work area considerations, checking for refrigerant presence, presence of fire extinguisher, absence of ignition sources, ventilated area requirements, checks to refrigeration equipment, checks to electrical devices, repairs to sealed components, repairs to intrinsically safe components, cabling checks, detection of flammable refrigerants, leak detection methods, removal and evacuation procedures, charging procedures, decommissioning, and labeling.
  • Disposal: Instructions for correct disposal of the product as Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in accordance with directive 2012/19/EU, emphasizing not to mix with general household waste and providing options for disposal.
