Muting:
Reducing
the
playback
volume
instantly
The
mute
system
can
be
used
to
instantly
reduce
the
playback
volume
without
using
the
VOLUME
control.
This
is
convenient
when
answering
a
sudden
phone
call,
etc.
Press
the
remote
control’s
MUTE
button.
The
MUTING
indi-
cator
will
light
up
and
the
playback
volume
will
be
instantly
re-
duced.
To
restore
the
normal
volume
level
Press
the
MUTE
button
again.
The
MUTING
indicator
will
go
off.
Notes
@
During
muting,
the
volume
level
is
reduced
by
—20
dB
(to
1/10)
from
the
set
volume
level.
@
The
mute
system
is
cancelled
when
the
power
is
turned
off.

Protection
circuit
This
amplifier
includes
a
built-in
protection
circuit
that
is
acti-
vated
to
protect
the
speakers
from
noise
damage
when
the
am-

plifier’s
power
is
turned
on.
The
protection
circuit
also
functions
during
playback
to
protect
the
speakers
from
overloads,
and
to
protect
the
circuit
from
damage.
When
speakers
with less
than
the
rated
impedance
are
used,
the
protection
circuit
will
short-circuit
the

and

speaker
cords.
When
the
protection
circuit
is
engaged,
the
output
signal
will
be
cut
automatically.
