operation.
lf
you
have not already
preset
the TV
slations, refer to the
"Presetting
TV
stations"
section.
The use of E-300 tapes
is
not
recommended.
Before
proceeding:
Turn on the TV and
VCR.
Make
sure
thatthe TV is setto the video channel or that
the
TV's TV/VCR switch
is
set
to VCR
(reter
to
"Video
chan-
nel").
Unless otherwise specified, the lollowing operation can
be
done
with
either
the
controls
on the front
Danel
or those on
the remote control.

IMPORTANT
Before starting recording, set the
VCR
to
the MODE
feature
(reter
to "Menu
mode")
and
make sure that all
thesettingsare in the correct
positions
for
the
modes
that
you
want to use.
Note:
.
As the Super
l-HQ feature takes approx.15 seconds to
complete
the Auto Tape Tuning
process
(for full informa-
tion referto the Super l-HO section)skip step
4 it
you
want
to
record
a
programme
instantly.
Load a blank
video tape.
lf the video tape's recording deteat
tab has
been
removed, cover
the
cavity
with adhesive tape before
loading.
Selectthe
preset
stalion
you
wantto
record with
the
CHANNEL ,^\ /
..,/
buttons.
Set
the tape speed with the SP/LP or SPEED button.
"LP'will
light on
the FL
display
when the long
play
mode
is
selected.
There will be no indication when standard
play
is selected.
Pressthe FHQ button then the
REC
button.
hold
both
buttonsdown untilthe
l-HQ indicator appears on the
FL display.
The l-HO
indicator
on the
FL
display
will tlash while the
AutoTapeTuning
process
isin operation.
When the
pro-
cess is completed the
indicator will stop flashing and re-
main lit. The VCR will then be in the
recording
pause
mooe.
To
start
recording,
press
the
REC
button until
the
recording
indicator lights on the FL display.
The REC button must be
pressed
slightly
longer than
other buttons, this
is
a built-in
feature to
prevenl
ac-
cidental
recording.
To
stop
recording,
press
the
r
stop button.
To temporarily stop recording,
press
the PAUSE/STILL
button.
To resume recording,
press
the REC button.
Note:
lf
you
skip step 4, to setthe
VCR to recording
standby
press
the PAUSE/STILL buttbn.When
you
want to start
recording
Dress
the BEC button.
Recording standby
will
be
released after approx.3o
minutes to
orotect
the video taoe.
It the video tape ends during
recording it will stop and re-
wind automatically.
The video tape cannot be ejected
directly from the recor-
ding
mode. The stop button must be
pressed
lirst.
Two recording speeds are available on
this VCR.
SP
(Standard
Play)
Provides the best
picture
and sound
quality.
The recording
time
of
an E-240 tape is 240 minules.
LP
(Long
Play)
Provides twice the
recording time
of
the
SP
mode. The recor-
ding
time
of
an E-240 tape is 480 minutes.
SettheVCR
to theTv mode
("VCR"
is not lit on the
FL
display) with the
TV/VCF
button.
Set
your
TV to the TV mode.
Set the Tv's channel selector
to the
channel
you
wish to vvatch.
When
you
want to return to the
programme
being
re-
corded, set
the TV
back
to the video channel.
