WARNING: AlcoSense is a sensitive measurement device. Performing a breath
test less than 10 minutes after drinking risks blowing high levels of alcohol
directly from your mouth into the system which could permanently damage
the sensor and cause the system to read inaccurately. Blood alcohol levels
can continue to rise for up to 90 minutes after drinking, as a result we only
recommend using the Breathalyser after this time (and ideally the morning
after) to ensure your reading will not increase after you test yourself. Do not
blow directly into the blow hole without a blow tube – this can damage the
sensor and signifi cantly reduce the lifetime of your unit.

    • T
      Timothy WrightJul 27, 2025
The 'Calibration Expired' or 'Calibration Due' message on your AlcoSense Test Equipment indicates that the 12-month calibration period is either about to expire or has already expired. Please contact us to arrange recalibration of the unit; our contact details can be found on the back cover of the manual.

Why is AlcoSense Excel calibration expiry date wrong?
    • M
      Michael CarterJul 31, 2025
If your AlcoSense Test Equipment calibration expiry date appears incorrect, it's likely because the date wasn't set correctly when you first turned on the unit during the initial setup. Please contact us to resolve the issue.

What to do if AlcoSense Excel Test Equipment gives strange result after many tests?
    • C
      Christina HayesAug 4, 2025
If you've performed many tests in quick succession and received a strange result on your AlcoSense Test Equipment, it may be due to breath condensation buildup inside the device, causing temporary inaccuracy. To prevent this, wait at least 3 minutes between tests and avoid performing more than 10 tests in one hour or 30 tests in 24 hours. The condensation should evaporate within 2 hours at normal room temperature, after which the breathalyser will return to normal operation.

Why does my AlcoSense Excel Test Equipment say 'Saturation Lockdown'?
    • N
      Nicole TaylorAug 9, 2025
The 'Saturation Lockdown' message on your AlcoSense Test Equipment appears when an abnormally high level of alcohol is detected. This often happens if you test immediately after drinking, leaving residual alcohol in your mouth. After the lockdown period expires, your unit should return to normal operation.

Why does my AlcoSense Excel Test Equipment show positive when I haven't had alcohol?
    • J
      Jonathan BarnesAug 12, 2025
If your AlcoSense Test Equipment gives a positive reading even when you haven't consumed alcohol, it could be due to testing too soon after eating strong foods, using dental products, chewing gum, or smoking. It can also be caused by the body releasing acetone/ketones during the metabolism of acetoacetic acid, which can be increased by certain medications, medical conditions like diabetes, or low-carbohydrate diets. If you experience this problem please call us.

What to do if AlcoSense Test Equipment shows different results?
    • R
      Rachel DeleonAug 16, 2025
If you get different results from two breath tests on your AlcoSense Test Equipment, it's likely because the alcohol levels in your lungs haven't stabilized after the first test. The first test is usually the most accurate. Your blood alcohol level can also change quickly over a few minutes if you have recently drunk alcohol. For best results, use the breathalyser at least 90 minutes after drinking, or ideally, the morning after.

What to do if AlcoSense Excel starts test by itself?
    • J
      John ClarkAug 22, 2025
If your AlcoSense Test Equipment starts a test by itself and displays an error, it may be due to using the breathalyser in a noisy environment exceeding 95dBA. If this occurs, move to a quieter area away from the source of the sound and attempt the test again.
