PA-CP User Guide 23
MIDI A standard 5-pin MIDI IN socket is provided. This lets
you control the internal effects via MIDI. For example, you
could use a MIDI sequencer or controlling device to remotely
change the preset type or bypass the effect. You can also use
MIDI to interface to a computer running the Allen & Heath PA
FX Editor software which lets you edit the effects parameters
and customise the presets.
MIDI Channel Number The console uses MIDI
channel number 1 (00H). This is fixed and cannot be changed.
Make sure the equipment you are connecting to is set to use
channel 1.
Using MIDI to change the effects preset
MIDI Program Change message CnH xxH
Where n = MIDI channel number
xx = 00H to 0FH (preset 1 to 16)
Using MIDI to mute the effects
MIDI Program Change message CnH xxH
Where xx = 65H (mute on) 64H (mute off)
PA FX Editor Software Allen & Heath have provided
Windows software that runs on a PC with MIDI port to let you
access and edit the effects parameters. This lets you
experiment with the full capability of the internal processor and
customise the 16 presets to suit your preferences. The
software can be downloaded free from our web site www.allen-
heath.com. The PC connects to the console via MIDI.
Running the program disables the console SEL button
and lets the computer take over the control of the effects. You
can change the effects type and edit the parameters in real
time for each preset. The dual effects provide independent
access to both effects engines. You can also edit the
parameters of the equaliser and noise gate built into the effects
processor. Once edited you can overwrite the console presets,
archive the settings in a disk file, and disconnect the computer.
The console remembers the new settings on power down.
Further information is available in the Help file which comes
with the software.
Resetting the Presets To restore the factory default
settings hold down the console SEL button while powering up
the console. The 16 preset LEDs flash in sequence to confirm
the reset.
To avoid audible power up thumps make sure the
amplifiers are turned down or off while resetting the effects
presets.
