Using the S.F.E. (Sound Field Expander)
This
feature
is
a
3-mode
signal
processor
that
expands
the
sound
field
in
order
to
simulate
a
larger
(than
a
car
interior)
listening
area.
Use
this
function
when
you
wish
to
obtain
an
expanded
sound
field
with
a
greater
acoustical
surrounding
effect
similar
to
the
sound
which
you
hear
in
a
concert
hall.
The
effect
decreases
in
the
order
of
1,2
and
3
modes.
1.
Press
the
S.F.E.
button

activate
the
S.F.E.
mode.

the

select
indicators

will
light
up.

Press
the
S.F.E.
button

again
to
select
No.
2,
or
3.
D.R.C. (Dynamic Range Control)
1.
Press
and
hold
down
the
D.R.C.
button

for
2
seconds
or
longer.
The
D.R.C.
indicator
@
will
light
up.
This
feature
reduces
the
dynamic
range
of
the
signal
source
(such
as
CD)
in
order
to
overcome
road
noise
or
limitations
of
the
rest
of
the
audio
system.
Use
this
function
when
you
play
easy-listening
music
such
as
background
music
(BGM)
or
very
subtle
music.
Scanning
1.
Press
and
hold
down
the
SCAN
button
®
for
2
seconds
or
longer.
The
SCAN
indicator
will light up.
2.
This
will
scan
the
equalization
curves
stored
in
preset
memory
for
5
seconds
each
in
the
order
of
1
to
4
for
the
personal
presets
and
then
1
to
4
for
the
manufacturer's
presets.
The
scanning
will
be
deactivated
automatically
when
this
procedure
is
finished.
DEFEAT Button
1.
Press
the
DEFEAT
button
@.
The
DEF.
indicator
@4
will
light
up.
The
original
signal
will
be
output
directly,
bypassing
the
equalizer
circuitry.
2.
To
deactivate
this
function,
press
the
DEFEAT
button
for
a
second
time.
Changing the Display
1.
Press
and
hold
down
the
DISP
button
®
for
more
than
2
seconds
to
select
the
normal
or
reverse
mode.
And,
press
the
SCREEN
button
®
for
more
than
2
seconds
to
select
the
positive
or
the
negative
display.
2.
Press
the
DISP
button
®
and
select
the
desired
design
mode
from
among
the
11
graphic
design
patterns.
When
the
DISP
button
©
is
pressed,
one
of
the
numbers
1
through
11
is
displayed
for
about
3
seconds
on
display
40.
Then
the
pattern
of
that
number
is
displayed.
