Limited Warranty Information
Thank you for choosing an Alpine product! We aim to please with our wide range of products including
Fountains, Birdbaths, Statuary, Pond Supplies & More. All of our products are constructed from the
highest quality materials. In the event that we have not achieved our usual standard of excellence, we
will repair or replace, at our discretion, within the warranty period. A valid proof of purchase, with the
purchase date clearly indicated, must be provided. Photos of defective merchandise will also be
required to help distinguish the actual cause of the defect. Please read below for a detailed
description of warranty coverage.
Water Damage
Alpine products are not manufactured to withstand extreme temperatures. Improper storage
that allows water to freeze within a product may cause damage and is considered negligence
and will, therefore not be covered under this warranty. The use of “hard water” and/or caustic
cleaners can affect the paint or other finishes. Failure to keep the unit clean, and use of such
additives/cleaners, will also void the warranty. Please note: for fountains, it is normal for some
splashing to occur and protecting the immediate surfaces is not the responsibility of Alpine
Corporation
Paint & Color (Retention and/or Loss)
The use of water will cause natural erosion to the color. This area can be touched up
using standard paint. The paint is designed to protect the entire finish against breakdown
of color. As with any product, all finishes with time will gradually fade and discolor. The
warranty will only cover against severe or complete fading within the first year from date of
purchase with the above exclusion.
Procedure/Service
Should a warranty/claim be needed, you should contact the retailer from whom you purchased
the product. If that is not an option, you can contact Alpine Corporation at www.alpine4u.com.
When contacting Alpine Corporation, you must be prepared to show proof of purchase,
provide photographs and any other information needed to validate your claim. This may be
necessary to distinguish between a partial or complete replacement of a defective product.
The warranty does not cover any items with multiple parts; the warranty will ONLY cover the
individual component of the unit/item that may be defective. Replacement parts can be made
available to a consumer through the original selling party, or an approved parts retailer. If this
is not an option, contact our customer service department. Item is covered under one year
limited warranty from the date of purchase. When requesting replacement parts due to a
warranty claim after 30 days of purchase, credit card information will be requested for shipping
charges.
Not Covered Under Warranty
The limited warranty will NOT cover cases of damages due to
1. Damages caused in Transit
2. Inadequate care and/or neglect
3. Environmental and/or natural elements
4. Immersion in water, unless specified
5. Improper Installation/Storage and/or Maintenance

installation and/or modifications have occurred. This includes any and/or all defects arising out of
freezing water damage, hard water damage, failure to keep the unit clean and free of harmful additives
such as bleach, chlorine, etc…. which affects the paint and/or parts. This warranty also does not cover
any additional charges or installation, removal, disposal and/or shipping costs or consequential damage
associated with any warranty claim.

Overview

This document describes the GIL1642 Calm Four Tiered Wall Fall Fountain, an Alpine Corporation product designed for decorative water features.

Function Description:

The GIL1642 is a four-tiered wall fall fountain intended for use as a decorative element. It features a submersible pump that circulates water, creating a cascading effect down its tiers. The fountain is designed to provide a calming aesthetic with its continuous water flow.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific technical specifications like dimensions, weight, or material composition are not explicitly detailed in the provided manual, the document does offer insights into its operational requirements and limitations:

  • Power: The fountain operates with a submersible pump that requires an electrical power supply. It is crucial to ensure the pump receives adequate power and that the transformer's maximum voltage and wattage are not exceeded.
  • Water Temperature: The pump should not be operated with water above 90°F (30°C).
  • Water Type: The manual recommends using distilled water to prevent scale build-up.
  • Water Volume: For smaller fountains holding up to 7 liters of water, Alpine Item # PPL100 cleansing formula is recommended. For larger fountains holding over 7 liters, Alpine Item # PPL102 is recommended. This suggests the GIL1642 falls into one of these categories, likely the latter given its "four-tiered" description.

Usage Features:

The fountain is designed for straightforward assembly and operation:

  • Assembly:
    1. Place the fountain on a leveled surface.
    2. Connect the flexible vinyl tubing from inside the fountain to the pump fitting and place it inside the water reservoir. Route the cord through the back opening.
    3. Connect the light cord from inside the fountain to the pump's male prong.
    4. Replace the back cover by sliding it into the door slot.
    5. Gently pour water into the fountain, ensuring the pump is completely submerged and the water runs clear, avoiding overflow and splashing.
    6. Plug the pump's transformer into a local power supply, ensuring no water is around the plug and the power source is in a dry place.
  • Initial Operation: Upon first operation, it may take up to 5 minutes for the pump to expel air and for water to flow properly.
  • Water Level: It is critical to maintain a sufficient water level to keep the pump fully submerged and prevent it from "spewing."
  • Placement: The fountain should be placed on a leveled surface. Protection of immediate surrounding surfaces from splashing is not the responsibility of Alpine Corporation.
  • Storage: If not in use for an extended period, the unit should be disconnected and stored in a dry place.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and proper functioning of the fountain:

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the pump from the electrical outlet before cleaning or handling.
    • Use only clean water.
    • Periodically change the water and clean the pump to keep it free from micro-organisms.
    • The manual recommends Alpine's all-natural cleansing formula to eliminate foam, lime scale, calcium buildup, fight mineral deposits, prevent staining, remove organic contaminants, and treat discolored water. This helps prevent pump damage due to hard water buildup.
    • For pump cleaning, disconnect the pump, remove the front cover and plate, gently pull out the impeller/rotor assembly, rinse it, and clean the cavity with clean water.
  • Pump Troubleshooting:
    • Pump fails to run: Check the circuit breaker/outlet, check pump discharge and tubing for kinks/obstructions, flush buildup with a garden hose, and check the rotor for jams or breakage.
    • Pump "spews": Ensure the pump is completely submerged and there is enough water in the basin.
    • Abnormal loud noises: Disconnect the pump, remove the impeller/rotor assembly, rinse it, and clean the cavity. If breakage is found, contact the retailer for parts.
  • General Care:
    • Do not place the fountain and/or parts in any other liquid besides clean water.
    • Do not lift, carry, or pull the pump by its power cord.
    • Never let the pump run dry.
    • Improper storage that allows water to freeze within the product can cause damage and is considered negligence, voiding the warranty.
    • The use of "hard water" and/or caustic cleaners can affect the paint or other finishes and will void the warranty if the unit is not kept clean.

Warranty Information:

The product comes with a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase.

  • Coverage: The warranty covers repair or replacement of defective products at Alpine's discretion. It specifically covers severe or complete fading of paint within the first year, excluding natural erosion from water. The warranty only covers the individual component of a multi-part unit that may be defective.
  • Requirements for Claim: A valid proof of purchase with the date clearly indicated is required. Photographs of defective merchandise are also necessary to help determine the cause of the defect.
  • Exclusions (Voiding the Warranty):
    • Damages caused in transit.
    • Inadequate care and/or neglect.
    • Environmental and/or natural elements.
    • Immersion in water, unless specified.
    • Improper installation/storage and/or maintenance.
    • Accident, misuse, negligence, improper installation, and/or modifications.
    • Defects arising from freezing water damage, hard water damage, failure to keep the unit clean, and use of harmful additives (e.g., bleach, chlorine) that affect paint and/or parts.
    • The warranty does not cover additional charges for installation, removal, disposal, shipping costs, or consequential damage.
  • Claim Procedure: Contact the retailer where the product was purchased. If that is not an option, contact Alpine Corporation at www.alpine4u.com. Be prepared to provide proof of purchase, photographs, and any other information needed to validate the claim. Credit card information will be requested for shipping charges for replacement parts requested after 30 days of purchase.
