Limited Warranty Information
Thank you for choosing an Alpine product! We aim to please with our wide range of products
including Fountains, Birdbaths, Statuary, Pond Supplies & More. All of our products are constructed
from the highest quality materials. In the event that we have not achieved our usual standard of
excellence, we will repair or replace, at our discretion, within the warranty period. A valid proof of
purchase, with the purchase date clearly indicated, must be provided. Photos of defective
merchandise will also be required to help distinguish the actual cause of the defect. Please read
below for a detailed description of warranty coverage.
Water Damage
Alpine products are not manufactured to withstand extreme temperatures. Improper
storage that allows water to freeze within a product may cause damage and is considered
negligence and will, therefore not be covered under this warranty. The use of “hard water”
and/or caustic cleaners can affect the paint or other finishes. Failure to keep the unit clean,
and use of such additives/cleaners, will also void the warranty. Please note: for fountains,
it is normal for some splashing to occur and protecting the immediate surfaces is not the
responsibility of Alpine Corporation
Paint & Color (Retention and/or Loss)
The use of water will cause natural erosion to the color. This area can be touched up
using standard paint. The paint is designed to protect the entire finish against breakdown
of color. As with any product, all finishes with time will gradually fade and discolor. The
warranty will only cover against severe or complete fading within the first year from date of
purchase with the above exclusion.
Procedure/Service
Should a warranty/claim be needed, you should contact the retailer from whom you
purchased the product. If that is not an option, you can contact Alpine Corporation at
www.alpine4u.com. When contacting Alpine Corporation, you must be prepared to
show proof of purchase, provide photographs and any other information needed to
validate your claim. This may be necessary to distinguish between a partial or complete
replacement of a defective product. The warranty does not cover any items with multiple
parts; the warranty will ONLY cover the individual component of the unit/item that may be
defective. Replacement parts can be made available to a consumer through the original
selling party, or an approved parts retailer. If this is not an option, contact our customer
service department. Item is covered under one year limited warranty from the date of
purchase. When requesting replacement parts due to a warranty claim after 30 days of
purchase, credit card information will be requested for shipping charges.
Not Covered Under Warranty

1. Damages caused in Transit
2. Inadequate care and/or neglect

freezing water damage, hard water damage, failure to keep the unit clean and free of harmful
additives such as bleach, chlorine, etc…. which affects the paint and/or parts. This warranty also
does not cover any additional charges or installation, removal, disposal and/or shipping costs or

Overview

This document describes the DIG100XS Abstract Jar Fountain with LED Lights, an Alpine Corporation product. It provides detailed information on its assembly, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and warranty.

Function Description:

The DIG100XS is an abstract jar-shaped fountain designed for decorative purposes, featuring integrated LED lights to enhance its aesthetic appeal. It operates by circulating water using a pump, creating a continuous flow that adds a serene ambiance to its surroundings. The fountain is intended for use with clean water to prevent damage and maintain its appearance.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific voltage, wattage, and pump flow rates are not explicitly detailed, the manual emphasizes that the pump should not exceed the maximum voltage and wattage on the transformer. It also notes that the fountain is suitable for use with water temperatures between 30°C and 90°F (approximately 0°C and 32°C). For larger fountains holding over 7 liters of water, Alpine Item # PPL102 cleansing formula is recommended, while for smaller fountains holding up to 7 liters, Alpine Item # PPL100 is suggested.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The fountain requires simple assembly, starting with placing it on a flat surface. The vinyl tubing connects to the pump, with the flow control adjusted to the lowest setting initially to prevent splashing. Light cables are connected, followed by sliding the back cover into place. The pump cord is then connected to the transformer.
  • Water Filling: Water should be gently poured into the fountain, ensuring the pump is completely submerged and the water flows smoothly. It's crucial not to overfill or cause splashing. The transformer should be plugged into a local power supply in a dry area, away from water.
  • First-Time Operation: When first operating the pump, it may take up to 5 minutes for air to be expelled and water to flow properly.
  • Water Type: The use of distilled water is highly recommended to prevent scale build-up, which can affect the fountain's performance and appearance.
  • Troubleshooting - Pump Failure: If the pump fails to run, users should check the circuit breaker or try a different outlet to ensure electrical power. Obstructions in the discharge and tubing should be checked and cleared, potentially with a garden hose. The rotor should also be inspected by removing the front cover and plate to ensure it's not jammed or broken.
  • Troubleshooting - Pump "Spewing": If the pump is spewing water, the water level in the basin should be checked to ensure the pump is completely submerged and there's enough water for proper operation. Insufficient water is a common cause of spewing.
  • Troubleshooting - Abnormal Loud Noises: If the pump makes loud noises, it should be disconnected from the power supply. The front cover and plate should be removed, and the impeller/rotor assembly gently pulled out of the pump housing. Rinsing the impeller/rotor assembly and cleaning the cavity with clean water can resolve the issue. If breakage or damage is found, the local retailer should be contacted for parts.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The pump should always be unplugged from the electrical outlet before cleaning or handling. The fountain should only be used with clean water, and no other liquids should be placed in it. Periodically changing the water and cleaning the pump is essential to prevent the growth of micro-organisms.
  • Cleansing Formulas: Alpine's all-natural cleansing formulas are recommended to eliminate foam, lime scale, calcium buildup, mineral deposits, and organic contaminants, while also preventing staining and treating discolored water. These formulas also help prevent pump damage due to hard water buildup.
  • Storage: If not in use for an extended period, the unit should be disconnected and stored in a dry place.
  • Pump Care: Never let the pump run dry, as this can cause significant damage. Do not lift, carry, or pull the pump by its power cord.
  • Paint & Color Retention: The manual acknowledges that natural erosion will cause color fading over time. Touch-ups can be done with standard paint. Severe or complete fading within the first year is covered under warranty, but natural erosion is not. The use of "hard water" or caustic cleaners can affect the paint and finishes, and failure to keep the unit clean will void the warranty.
  • Water Damage Prevention: Alpine products are not designed to withstand extreme temperatures. Improper storage that allows water to freeze within a product can cause damage and is considered negligence, which voids the warranty. Some splashing is normal for fountains, but protecting immediate surfaces is not the responsibility of Alpine Corporation.

Warranty Information:

Alpine Corporation offers a limited warranty, promising to repair or replace defective products at their discretion within the warranty period. A valid proof of purchase with the date clearly indicated is required, along with photos of defective merchandise to help determine the cause of the defect.

Warranty Exclusions:

The warranty does NOT cover:

  • Damages caused in transit.
  • Inadequate care and/or neglect.
  • Environmental and/or natural elements.
  • Immersion in water, unless specified.
  • Improper installation/storage and/or maintenance.
  • Damage due to accident, misuse, negligence, improper installation, and/or modifications.
  • Defects arising from freezing water damage, hard water damage, or failure to keep the unit clean and free of harmful additives (e.g., bleach, chlorine).
  • Additional charges for installation, removal, disposal, shipping costs, or consequential damage associated with any warranty claim.

The warranty is void if the product has been damaged by any of the excluded conditions. For warranty claims, customers should first contact the retailer where the product was purchased. If that's not possible, Alpine Corporation can be contacted directly at www.alpine4u.com. Proof of purchase, photographs, and other relevant information will be required to validate the claim. The warranty covers individual components of multi-part units, not the entire unit. Replacement parts may be available through the original seller or an approved retailer. For replacement parts requested after 30 days of purchase, credit card information will be required for shipping charges.
