Limited Warranty Information
Thank you for choosing an Alpine product! We aim to please with our wide range of products including
Fountains, Birdbaths, Statuary, Pond Supplies & More. All of our products are constructed from the
highest quality materials. In the event that we have not achieved our usual standard of excellence, we
will repair or replace, at our discretion, within the warranty period. A valid proof of purchase, with the
purchase date clearly indicated, must be provided. Photos of defective merchandise will also be
required to help distinguish the actual cause of the defect. Please read below for a detailed
description of warranty coverage.
Water Damage
Alpine products are not manufactured to withstand extreme temperatures. Improper storage
that allows water to freeze within a product may cause damage and is considered negligence
and will, therefore not be covered under this warranty. The use of “hard water” and/or caustic
cleaners can affect the paint or other finishes. Failure to keep the unit clean, and use of such
additives/cleaners, will also void the warranty. Please note: for fountains, it is normal for some
splashing to occur and protecting the immediate surfaces is not the responsibility of Alpine
Corporation
Paint & Color (Retention and/or Loss)
The use of water will cause natural erosion to the color. This area can be touched up
using standard paint. The paint is designed to protect the entire finish against breakdown
of color. As with any product, all finishes with time will gradually fade and discolor. The
warranty will only cover against severe or complete fading within the first year from date of
purchase with the above exclusion.
Procedure/Service
Should a warranty/claim be needed, you should contact the retailer from whom you purchased
the product. If that is not an option, you can contact Alpine Corporation at www.alpine4u.com.
When contacting Alpine Corporation, you must be prepared to show proof of purchase,
provide photographs and any other information needed to validate your claim. This may be
necessary to distinguish between a partial or complete replacement of a defective product.
The warranty does not cover any items with multiple parts; the warranty will ONLY cover the
individual component of the unit/item that may be defective. Replacement parts can be made
available to a consumer through the original selling party, or an approved parts retailer. If this
is not an option, contact our customer service department. Item is covered under one year
limited warranty from the date of purchase. When requesting replacement parts due to a
warranty claim after 30 days of purchase, credit card information will be requested for shipping
charges.
Not Covered Under Warranty
The limited warranty will NOT cover cases of damages due to
1. Damages caused in Transit
2. Inadequate care and/or neglect
3. Environmental and/or natural elements
4. Immersion in water, unless specified
5. Improper Installation/Storage and/or Maintenance
This warranty is void if the product has been damaged by accident, misuse, negligence, improper
installation and/or modifications have occurred. This includes any and/or all defects arising out of
freezing water damage, hard water damage, failure to keep the unit clean and free of harmful additives
such as bleach, chlorine, etc…. which affects the paint and/or parts. This warranty also does not cover
any additional charges or installation, removal, disposal and/or shipping costs or consequential damage
associated with any warranty claim.

Overview

This document describes the WIN1170 Buddha Zen Fountain with LED Light, an Alpine Corporation product.

Function Description

The Buddha Zen Fountain is a decorative water feature designed for both aesthetic appeal and the soothing sound of flowing water. It includes an integrated LED light to enhance its visual appeal, particularly in low-light conditions. The fountain operates by circulating water using a submersible pump, creating a continuous flow.

Important Technical Specifications

While specific numerical technical specifications (e.g., voltage, wattage, flow rate) are not explicitly listed, the manual provides crucial operational guidelines:

  • Water Temperature: Do not operate with water above 90°F (32°C) or 30°C. This implies a specific operating temperature range for optimal performance and longevity.
  • Transformer: Users must not exceed the maximum voltage and wattage specified for the transformer. This indicates that the fountain operates with a transformer to convert household current to a suitable voltage for the pump and LED light.
  • Water Volume: The manual references "small sized fountains holding water up to 7 liters" and "larger sized fountains holding water over 7 liters" when recommending cleaning formulas (PPL100 and PPL102, respectively). This suggests the WIN1170 likely falls into one of these categories, providing a general idea of its water capacity.

Usage Features

  • Assembly: The fountain requires assembly, which involves connecting the submersible pump to vinyl tubing, placing the pump in the reservoir, connecting the LED light cord to the transformer, and replacing a back cover.
  • Water Filling: Water should be gently poured into the fountain, ensuring the pump is completely submerged and the water runs clear during operation. Distilled water is recommended to prevent scale build-up.
  • Power Connection: The LED lights and pump cords are plugged into a local power supply, with a caution to keep the power source dry and away from water.
  • Flow Control: The pump has an adjustable flow control, which should be set to the lowest setting during initial assembly to prevent splashing.
  • Initial Operation: When first operated, the pump may take up to 5 minutes to expel air completely before water begins to flow properly.
  • Placement: The fountain base should be placed on a smooth and level surface.
  • Seasonal Use: For extended periods of non-use, the unit should be disconnected and stored in a dry place.
  • Safety: Users are explicitly warned not to lift, carry, or pull the pump by its power cord, and never to let the pump run dry.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Regular cleaning is essential to prevent micro-organisms, foam, lime scale, and calcium buildup.
    • The pump should be periodically cleaned.
    • Alpine's all-natural cleansing formulas (PPL100 for fountains up to 7 liters, PPL102 for fountains over 7 liters) are recommended to eliminate various contaminants, prevent staining, and maintain clear water.
    • Always unplug the pump from the electrical outlet before cleaning or handling.
    • The rotor of the pump can be accessed and cleaned if water flow is obstructed.
    • The impeller/rotor assembly can be removed and rinsed with clean water if abnormal noises occur.
  • Water Quality: Use with clean water only. Distilled water is recommended to prevent scale build-up. Periodically change the water.
  • Paint/Finish Care: The use of "hard water" and/or caustic cleaners can affect the paint or other finishes, potentially voiding the warranty. Normal erosion of color due to water is expected and can be touched up with standard paint. Fading and discoloration over time are natural, with severe fading only covered under warranty for the first year.
  • Winterization: Improper storage that allows water to freeze within the product can cause damage and is considered negligence, which is not covered under warranty. This implies the fountain should be drained and stored in a frost-free environment during freezing temperatures.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides troubleshooting steps for common issues such as the pump failing to run (checking power, obstructions, rotor), the pump "spewing" (checking water level), and the pump making abnormal loud noises (cleaning impeller/rotor).

Warranty Information

  • Coverage: A one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase covers repair or replacement, at Alpine's discretion, for defects in materials and workmanship. It specifically covers individual defective components, not entire units with multiple parts.
  • Requirements for Claim: A valid proof of purchase with the date clearly indicated, and photos of the defective merchandise, are required for any warranty claim.
  • Exclusions: The warranty is void if damage is caused by:
    • Accident, misuse, negligence, improper installation, or modifications.
    • Freezing water damage.
    • Hard water damage.
    • Failure to keep the unit clean and free of harmful additives (e.g., bleach, chlorine).
    • Damages caused in transit.
    • Inadequate care and/or neglect.
    • Environmental and/or natural elements.
    • Immersion in water (unless specified).
    • Improper installation/storage and/or maintenance.
    • The warranty does not cover additional charges for installation, removal, disposal, shipping, or consequential damage.
  • Claim Procedure: Contact the retailer where the product was purchased. If that's not possible, contact Alpine Corporation directly via www.alpine4u.com. Credit card information will be requested for shipping charges on replacement parts requested after 30 days of purchase.
