completing
the
mechanical
installation,
the
following
Post
Installation
Function
Tests
must
be
performed.
PRE
INSTALLATION
TESTS
With
the
AK-950
disconnected,
turn
on
the
avionics
master
switch
and
verity
that
the
aircraft
power
of
14
1
28
Vdc
are
on
Connecter
Pin
78
(Annunciator
Power).
Using
an
Ohm
Meter,
verity
that
Pin
40
is
aircraft
ground.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
FOR
MODEL
AK-950
Turn
off
the
avionics
master
switch
and
connect
the
mating
connector
to
the
AK-950.
Turn
on the
avionics
master
switch
and
the
AK-950
should
come
on
with
the
following
annunciations:
1.
NAV
or
GPS
Momentarily
press
the
TEST
Switch,
ali
annunciations
should
light.
Select
NAV
using
the
NAV
1 GPS
button.
The
presentation
on
the
HSI 1 CDI
will
now
be
information
from
the
VOR receiver.
Using a
VOR
test
generator
or
equivalent
VOR signal,
verify
that
the
presentation
and
operation
of
the
HSI 1 CDI is
correct.
This
will
include
course
resolver,
left-right
meter,
ta-from
mater
and
nav
warn
flag.

he
ILS
Override
feature
(if
Pin
63
is
connected)
may
be
tested
by
tuning
the
connected
NA
V Radio
to
an ILS
frequency.
Verify
that
the
Blue GPS
Annunciator
extinguishes
and
bath
the
Green ILS and
NA
V
Annunciators
illuminate,
regardless
of
tl1e
selection
of
the
NA
V /GPS
switch.
Using
the
appropriate
t:!st
signal
generators,
verity
that
the
ILS and 1
or
Glide
Slope
data is
correctly
displayed
on
the
HSI and 1
or
CDI.
Tune
the
connected
NA
V Radio
back
to
a
standard
VOR
frequency.
Verity
that
the
Blue GPS
Annunciator
again
illuminates
and
that
the
GPS
datais
then
correctly
displayed
on
the HSI
and
1
or
CDI.
No
periodic
maintenance
or
calibration
is
necessary
for
continued
airworthiness
of
the
AK-950.
2.4.2.6
AUTO
DIMMING
TEST:
A Photocell
provides
the
Auto
Dimming
function.
This
can be
tested
by
covering
the
Photocell
by
hand and
observing
the
change
in
brightness.
NOTE:
1. There is an
Adjustment
Potentiometer
located
on
the
side
of
the
unit.
Adjustment
should be made vvhen
the
unit
is installed in
aircraft,
and
with
night
time
lighting
conditions.
2. Rotate
the
Potentiometer
clockwise
to
dim
the
annunciators.
Rotate
the
Potentiometer
counter-clockwise
to
make
the
annunciators
brighter.
3. Do
not
use excessive
inward
force
on
the
alignment
tool,
and
do
not
use excessive
rotational
force.
Damage
may
result.
