1. Insert a mouthpiece into the ALX3000 handset.
2. Turn on your vehicle ignition.
3. Press the “Enter” button on the handset to start the device. When it displays “Perform breath
test”, you will hear a beep sound.
4. Wait until the device finishes warming up.
5. When the device is ready for a breath test it will display “BLOW”.
6. Take a deep breath, place your lips completely around the mouthpiece, and blow steadily into it.
7. The breath sample will be analysed, and the result will be displayed.
8. If you pass the breath test, then a countdown will follow, allowing you to start your car within
this time frame.
9. If you fail, a temporary lock-out will follow, and the vehicle will not be able to start.
Note: If the amount of alcohol detected is above the set limit value, a “FAIL” message appears
on the display and a different alarm sound is produced for each alcohol concentration:
- LOW level: 3 “beeps”
- HIGH level: 1 long “beep” for 10 seconds
After the alarm, the ALX3000 will automatically lock for 15 minutes, and retests are not
permitted during this time. The next test-able time will count down and can be confirmed on the
display. All events are recorded within the ALX3000.
