Overview

This document describes the Anko Oil-filled Radiator, model HD904-11, a heating appliance designed for indoor use.

Function Description:

The Anko Oil-filled Radiator, model HD904-11, is an electrical heating appliance that uses oil as a heat transfer medium. It is designed to provide constant heat over a long period, making it ideal for areas requiring sustained warmth rather than instant spot heating. The radiator operates by heating the oil inside its sealed fins, which then radiates heat into the surrounding room. It features a thermostat for temperature control and a power switch to select different heating levels. The appliance is equipped with caster wheels for easy mobility.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: HD904-11
  • Voltage: 220-240V ~50Hz
  • Power: 2000-2400W
  • Type: Oil-filled Radiator
  • Usage Environment: Designed for indoor use ONLY.
  • Oil Content: Filled with a precise quantity of special oil.

Usage Features:

  • Controls:
    • Thermostat (b): Allows users to set and maintain a desired room temperature. The power indicator light (c) illuminates when the room temperature is below the thermostat's setting value.
    • Power Switch (d): Offers multiple heating settings:
      • 0 = OFF
      • I = Low
      • II = Med
      • III = High
    • Power Indicator (c): Lights up when the heater is actively heating and the room temperature is below the thermostat's set point.
  • Mobility: Equipped with a caster assembly (i) for easy movement.
  • Safety Features:
    • Thermal Cut-out: The appliance is designed with a thermal cut-out to prevent overheating. It should not be supplied through an external switching device (like a timer) or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched ON and OFF by the utility, as this could inadvertently reset the thermal cut-out and create a hazard.
    • Overheating Protection: A warning is provided against covering the heater to avoid overheating.
    • Stable Operation: Must be used on a horizontal and stable surface.
    • Clearance: Combustible materials (furniture, pillows, bedding, paper, clothes, curtains) must be kept at least 1 meter (36 inches) away from the heater.
    • Cooling Down: Allow the heater to cool before moving it, and use the handles for relocation.
  • Assembly:
    1. Ensure the heater is unplugged and in the "OFF" position.
    2. Turn the heater upside down.
    3. Attach the wheel-holding plates: one between the last row of fins and the other under the metal control chamber. Fix the castors to the vertical axis of both wheel-holding plates.
    4. Insert and securely tighten the butterfly nuts.
    5. Turn the heater upright.
    6. Allow the oil to settle for 5 minutes before use.
    • Crucial Warning: Do not operate the heater without wheel assemblies attached. Operate the heater only in an upright position (wheels at the bottom, controls on top) to prevent hazardous situations. Ensure the surface beneath the heater is clean and free of obstructions.
  • Operation Steps:
    1. Set the thermostat to "MIN" and the power switch to "OFF (0)".
    2. Insert the plug into a suitable wall power outlet.
    3. Rotate the power switch to "Max (III)" and turn the thermostat knob to "High" to begin heating.
    4. Once the desired room temperature is reached, slowly turn the thermostat counterclockwise until the power indicator light turns off. This maintains a constant room temperature.
    5. To adjust the room temperature, turn the thermostat clockwise to raise it or counterclockwise to lower it, or set the power switch to a "Low" position.
    6. After use, turn the power switch to "OFF (0)", then the thermostat to "MIN", and disconnect from the mains power outlet.
  • Important Notes for Usage:
    • The power indicator only lights when the room temperature is below the thermostat's setting.
    • The room should be insulated for optimal heating results.
    • The air inlets of the control chamber must remain ventilated for the thermostat to function correctly.
    • Not suitable for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar moist indoor locations.
    • Never locate the heater where it might fall into a bathtub or other water container.
    • Do not run the power cord under carpeting or cover it with throw rugs; arrange the cord away from traffic areas to prevent tripping.
    • Do not block air intakes or exhaust openings. Do not use on soft surfaces (like a bed) where openings could be blocked.
    • The heater has hot and arcing/sparking parts inside; do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
    • Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids, or use near washbasins/sinks. Avoid getting it wet or using it with wet hands.
    • Do not use in small rooms occupied by persons unable to leave on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
    • Extreme caution is necessary when used by or near children, or when left unattended.
    • Always disconnect from mains power when not in use.
    • Avoid using extension cords, as they can overheat and cause a fire.
    • The heater must not be located immediately below a mains power socket-outlet.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    1. Regularly clean the electric heater to remove dust from the surface of the flanges, as dust can reduce radiating efficiency.
    2. Before cleaning, disconnect the electricity supply and allow the radiator to cool completely.
    3. Wipe off dust with a soft, damp cloth.
    4. Do not use detergent or abrasives.
    5. Do not scrape the surfaces of the flanges with sharp, hard tools to prevent damage to the paint coat and subsequent rust.
  • Damage Inspection: Always inspect the appliance for damage before use. If damaged, dropped, left outdoors, or dropped in water, do not use it. Have it checked by a qualified electrical person or dispose of it.
  • Cord Replacement: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrical person only, or the heater must be disposed of.
  • Disposal: When scrapping the heater, follow local council regulations regarding the disposal of the heater and its special oil.
