8. Do not overll – the
refrigerant cylinders can
be lled up to 80% of their
volume.
9. Never exceed the maximum
permitted working pressure
for the refrigerant cylinders,
not even temporarily.
10. When the cylinders have
been correctly lled and
process is completed all the
stop valves must be closed
and the equipment and
cylinders removed from the
area without delay.
11. Collected refrigerant must
not be lled in a cooling
system until it has been
puried and checked.
Marking
Decommissioned equipment
must be labelled to indicate that
it has been decommissioned
and emptied of refrigerant. The
labelling must be dated and
signed. The equipment must
also be labelled to indicated
that it contains ammable
refrigerant.
Collecting refrigerant
When a cooling system is to
be emptied of refrigerant
prior to service/repair or
decommissioning the refrigerant
must be collected and contained
in a safe way.
• Before collecting, check that
there is a sucient number
of cylinders for all the
refrigerant in the system.
Only cylinders intended for
the actual type of refrigerant
must be used and they must
be labelled for this type of
refrigerant. The cylinders
must be provided with
functional pressure release
and stop valves. Empty
cylinders must be vacuum
pumped and if possible
cooled before the collecting
starts.
• The equipment must be in
good condition and suitable
for collecting ammable
refrigerant, and the
instructions for it must also
be available.
