Function Description

The AOC LCD Monitor is a display device designed to connect to a computer system, providing visual output. It supports various input types, including HDMI, DisplayPort (DP), and D-SUB (VGA), allowing for compatibility with a wide range of devices. The monitor is equipped with Adaptive-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium functions (available on selective models), which are designed to reduce screen tearing and stuttering, providing a smoother gaming and viewing experience. These functions synchronize the monitor's refresh rate with the graphics card's frame rate. The monitor features an On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, accessible via hotkeys, which allows users to adjust various display settings such as luminance, image setup, color setup, picture boost, and game-specific settings. It also includes an LED indicator to show its power status.

Usage Features

The monitor offers a range of features to enhance the user experience. For optimal viewing, the monitor's angle can be adjusted, with a tilt range from -5° to 23°. Users are advised to hold the stand when adjusting the angle to prevent the monitor from toppling and to avoid touching the LCD screen directly to prevent damage. The monitor can be used with its included stand and base, or it can be wall-mounted using a VESA-compatible mounting arm (purchased separately). When wall-mounting, specific instructions must be followed to ensure proper installation and ventilation.

Connecting the monitor to a PC involves connecting the power cord and a display signal cable (HDMI, DP, or D-SUB) to the respective ports on the monitor and computer. The manual emphasizes turning off both the PC and the LCD monitor before connecting cables to protect the equipment.

The OSD menu provides extensive control over the monitor's display. Hotkeys on the monitor allow quick access to functions such as Source/Auto/Exit, Game Mode, Dial Point, and Menu/Enter. The "Game Mode" hotkey allows users to quickly switch between preset game modes like FPS, RTS, Racing, Gamer 1, Gamer 2, and Gamer 3, each optimized for different game types. The "Dial Point" feature can be toggled on or off via a hotkey. The "Source/Auto/Exit" button serves as a source hotkey when the OSD is closed and can also perform an auto-configure function for D-Sub models when pressed continuously for about 2 seconds.

• Luminance: Adjusts Contrast, Brightness, Eco mode (Standard, Text, Internet, Game, Movie, Sports, Reading), Gamma (Gamma1, Gamma2, Gamma3), DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) on/off, and HDR Mode (HDR Picture, HDR Movie, HDR Game).
• Image Setup: Controls Clock (to reduce vertical-line noise), Phase (to reduce horizontal-line noise), Sharpness, H. Position (horizontal position), and V. Position (vertical position).
• Color Setup: Allows selection of Color Temp (Warm, Normal, Cool, sRGB, or User-defined RGB gains), and DCB Mode (Full Enhance, Nature Skin, Green Field, Sky-blue, Auto Detect, OFF) with a DCB Demo option.
• Picture Boost: Enables a "Bright Frame" feature, allowing users to adjust the size, brightness, contrast, and position of a specific area on the screen for enhanced viewing.
• OSD Setup: Configures OSD Language, Timeout, DP Capability (1.1/1.2), H. Position, V. Position, Volume, Transparence, and Break Reminder (to remind users to take breaks after continuous work).
• Game Setting: Offers Game Mode selection (FPS, RTS, Racing, Gamer 1, Gamer 2, Gamer 3, off), Shadow Control (0-100), Overdrive (Weak, Medium, Strong, Boost, Off), Game Color (0-20), LowBlue Mode (Reading/Office, Internet, Multimedia, Off), MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) (0-20), Adaptive-Sync/AMD FreeSync Premium (On/Off), and Frame Counter (Off, Right-Up, Right-Down, Left-Down, Left-Up). Note that MBR and Overdrive Boost are only available when Adaptive-Sync/AMD FreeSync Premium is off and the vertical frequency is up to 75 Hz.
• Extra: Includes Input Select, Auto Config, Off Timer, Image Ratio (Wide, 4:3), DDC/CI (ON/OFF), and Reset options.
• Exit: Allows users to exit the OSD menu.

The monitor also supports Plug and Play DDC2B, which allows it to communicate its identity and display capabilities to the host system.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the monitor.

• Cleaning: The cabinet should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Strong detergents should be avoided as they can damage the product cabinet. When cleaning, care must be taken to prevent detergent from leaking into the product, and the cleaning cloth should not be too rough to avoid scratching the screen surface. The power cord must be disconnected before cleaning the product.
• Installation and Placement: The monitor should be placed on a stable surface, and if using a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table, it must be one recommended by the manufacturer. Adequate space around the monitor (at least 4 inches/10cm on the sides and 12 inches/30cm at the top) is required for proper air circulation to prevent overheating. The front of the product should not be placed on the floor.
• Power Safety: The monitor should only be operated from the power source indicated on its label. It is equipped with a three-pronged grounded plug for safety, and if the outlet does not accommodate it, an electrician should install the correct outlet or an adapter should be used. The unit should be unplugged during lightning storms or when not in use for extended periods to protect against power surges. Overloading power strips and extension cords should be avoided. The wall socket must be easily accessible.
• General Safety: Objects should never be pushed into the monitor cabinet slots, and liquids should not be spilled on the monitor. The monitor should not be subjected to severe vibration or high impact conditions during operation or transportation. If the product emits a strange smell, sound, or smoke, the power plug must be disconnected immediately, and a Service Center contacted. Ventilating openings must not be blocked.

The manual also provides a troubleshooting section to address common issues such such as the power LED not being on, no images on the screen, fuzzy or ghosting pictures, flickering, missing colors, or horizontal/vertical disturbances.
