Overview

This document serves as the user manual for the AOC Q2790PQE LCD Monitor, which features LED backlighting. It provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining the monitor, along with troubleshooting tips and safety guidelines.

Function Description

The AOC Q2790PQE is an LCD monitor designed to display visual information from a connected computer or other video sources. Its primary function is to provide a clear and vivid visual output for various applications, including office work, internet browsing, gaming, and multimedia consumption. The monitor utilizes LED backlighting for efficient and bright display. It supports multiple input signal types, including HDMI, DisplayPort (DP), and D-Sub (VGA), allowing for broad compatibility with different systems. The monitor is equipped with USB ports, including a fast-charging USB port, to enhance connectivity and convenience for peripheral devices. An earphone out port is also available for audio output.

Usage Features

The monitor offers a range of features to optimize the user experience.

Setup and Installation:

The manual details the process of setting up the monitor stand and base, ensuring a stable foundation for the display. It also provides instructions for connecting the monitor to a PC using various signal cables (HDMI, DP, VGA, USB, Audio), emphasizing the importance of proper connections for optimal performance. Users are advised to turn off both the PC and the LCD monitor before connecting cables to protect the equipment.

Adjusting Viewing Angle:

For ergonomic comfort and optimal viewing, the monitor allows for adjustment of its viewing angle. Users can tilt the monitor from -5° to 21° to suit their preference. The manual cautions against touching the LCD screen during angle adjustments to prevent damage.

Hotkeys for Quick Access:

The monitor features several hotkeys for quick access to common functions without navigating through the full On-Screen Display (OSD) menu:

  • Up/Source/Auto/Exit: When the OSD is closed, this button functions as a Source hotkey. Pressing it continuously for about 2 seconds performs an auto-configure function (for D-Sub models only).
  • Image Ratio/Volume/Right: When the OSD is not active, this key opens the volume adjustment bar (for HDMI/DP sources) or enters the image scale switching function (for D-Sub sources).
  • Down/ECO: When the OSD is not active, this key activates the ECO adjustment bar, allowing users to select different ECO modes.
  • Power/Menu/Enter: This button turns the monitor on or off. When the OSD is not active, pressing it displays the OSD or confirms a selection within the OSD.

On-Screen Display (OSD) Settings:

The OSD menu provides extensive control over the monitor's display settings, organized into several categories:

  • Luminance: This section allows adjustment of Contrast (0-100) and Brightness (0-100) for backlight adjustment. It also includes various Eco modes (Standard, Text, Internet, Game, Movie, Sports, Reading) to optimize settings for different content types. Gamma settings (Gamma1, Gamma2, Gamma3) can be adjusted. The Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) can be enabled or disabled to automatically adjust contrast. OverDrive settings (Weak, Medium, Strong, Off) allow users to adjust the response time of the display.
  • Image Setup: This section provides controls for Clock (0-100) to reduce vertical-line noise, Phase (0-100) to reduce horizontal-line noise, Sharpness (0-100) for picture clarity, and H.Position (0-100) and V.Position (0-100) to adjust the horizontal and vertical placement of the image.
  • Color Setup: This menu offers various Color Temperature presets (Warm, Normal, Cool, sRGB) and a User mode for custom RGB gain adjustments. DCB (Dynamic Color Boost) Mode includes options like Full Enhance, Nature Skin, Green Field, Sky-blue, AutoDetect, and OFF, along with a DCB Demo. LowBlue Mode (Multimedia, Internet, Office, Reading, Off) helps decrease blue light emissions by controlling color temperature, reducing eye strain.
  • Picture Boost: This feature allows users to enhance a specific area of the screen. It includes settings for Bright Frame (on or off), Frame Size (14-100), Brightness (0-100), Contrast (0-100), H. position (0-100), and V. position (0-100) to adjust the brightness, contrast, and position of the boosted frame.
  • OSD Setup: This section allows users to select the OSD Language, set the OSD Timeout (5-120 seconds), configure DP Capability (1.1/1.2), adjust H. Position (0-100) and V. Position (0-100) of the OSD itself, control USB power during power saving (on or off), set OSD Transparence (0-100), and enable or disable a Break Reminder for continuous work.
  • Extra: This menu includes Input Select (Auto, D-SUB, HDMI1, HDMI2, DP) to choose the signal source, Auto Config. (Yes/No) to adjust the picture to default, Off Timer (0-24 hrs) to set a power-off timer, Image Ratio (Wide, 4:3, 1:1, Movie1, Movie2) for display format, DDC/CI (Yes/No) support, and Reset (Yes/No) to restore default settings.
  • Exit: This option allows users to exit the main OSD menu.

Clear Vision Function:

The Clear Vision function, activated via a hotkey, enhances image viewing by converting low-resolution and blurry images into clear and vivid ones. Users can select between weak, medium, strong, or off settings. A Clear Vision Demo mode can also be activated to showcase the effect.

LED Indicator:

The monitor's LED indicator provides visual feedback on its power status:

  • Full Power Mode: White LED
  • Active-off Mode: Orange LED

Troubleshooting:

The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section to help users resolve common issues such as the power LED not being on, no images on the screen, fuzzy or ghosting pictures, bouncing or flickering images, the monitor being stuck in "Active Off-Mode," missing primary colors, improperly centered or sized images, color defects, and horizontal or vertical disturbances. Solutions range from checking cable connections and power supply to adjusting monitor settings and rebooting the computer.

Plug and Play (DDC2B Feature):

The monitor supports VESA DDC2B capabilities, allowing it to communicate its identity and display capabilities to the host system. This bi-directional data channel, based on the I2C protocol, enables the host to request EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) information, simplifying setup and ensuring optimal display configuration.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of the AOC Q2790PQE monitor.

  • Cleaning: The manual advises regular cleaning of the cabinet with a soft cloth and mild detergent to remove stains, cautioning against strong detergents that could damage the product. When cleaning, users should ensure no detergent leaks into the product and use a soft cleaning cloth to avoid scratching the screen surface. Importantly, the power cord must be disconnected before cleaning the monitor to prevent electric shock.
  • General Care: Users are warned against placing the monitor on unstable surfaces, pushing objects into cabinet slots, spilling liquids, or placing the front of the product on the floor. If mounting the monitor on a wall or shelf, only manufacturer-approved kits and instructions should be followed. Adequate space around the monitor (at least 10cm on sides and 30cm on top) is recommended to ensure proper air circulation and prevent overheating.
  • Power Protection: To protect the monitor from power surges, it should be unplugged during lightning storms or when not in use for extended periods. Overloading power strips and extension cords is also cautioned against to prevent fire or electric shock. The monitor should only be operated from the specified power source, and if the outlet does not accommodate the grounded plug, an electrician should install the correct outlet or an adapter should be used safely.
  • Warning Signs: If the product emits a strange smell, sound, or smoke, users are instructed to immediately disconnect the power plug and contact a Service Center.
  • Handling: Users are advised not to engage the LCD monitor in severe vibration or high impact conditions during operation or transportation, and to avoid knocking or dropping it.

By following these guidelines, users can ensure the safe and effective operation and maintenance of their AOC Q2790PQE LCD monitor.
