Overview

The APEC ROTL-600 System is a sophisticated water filtration device designed to provide clean, purified drinking water for household use. Its primary function is to remove impurities and contaminants from tap water, ensuring that the water is safe and pleasant to drink. The system employs multiple stages of filtration, including sediment/carbon, RO membrane, and post-carbon filters, to achieve a high level of water purity. This multi-stage approach ensures that a wide range of substances, from larger particles and chlorine to microscopic contaminants and dissolved solids, are effectively removed. The device is intended for use with water that is microbiologically safe or has been adequately disinfected, as it is not designed to treat microbiologically unsafe water without prior disinfection.

One of the key usage features of the APEC ROTL-600 System is its user-friendly operation. The system is designed for easy integration into a home's water supply, typically connecting to a dedicated drinking faucet. To obtain purified water, users simply turn on the drinking faucet. The system then processes the tap water through its filtration stages, delivering clean water on demand. For optimal performance and to ensure the longevity of the system, it is crucial to follow the recommended installation guidelines, which involve properly connecting the water supply, the drinking faucet, and the power adapter. The system is also designed with a compact footprint, making it suitable for under-sink installation without occupying excessive space. The continuous flow of purified water ensures that users have access to clean drinking water whenever needed, eliminating the need for bottled water and contributing to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Maintenance of the APEC ROTL-600 System is streamlined through several user-centric features, primarily focusing on filter cartridge replacement and resetting. The system is equipped with a filter cartridge life indicator or reminder system, which prompts users when it's time to replace the filters. This proactive notification helps maintain the system's efficiency and ensures consistent water quality. Replacing the filter cartridges is a straightforward process designed to be performed by the user without requiring specialized tools or professional assistance.

The filter replacement process involves several steps:

  1. Preparation: Users first turn on the drinking faucet and turn off the main water supply to the system. Once pure water stops flowing from the faucet, the power adapter is unplugged. This depressurizes the system and ensures safety during the replacement.
  2. Removal of Old Cartridge: The existing filter cartridge is unscrewed counterclockwise to relieve any remaining pressure and then removed. For certain cartridges, a plastic protection cover at the upper end may need to be removed first.
  3. Installation of New Cartridge: The new filter cartridge is inserted from the front side of the housing. It is then placed with its handle at a 90-degree angle to the housing. After insertion, the cartridge is turned 90 degrees clockwise until the handle is in its final position, securing the cartridge in place. It is crucial to use only genuine APEC Water filter cartridges for replacement to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.
  4. Post-Replacement Steps: After installing the new filter, the power adapter is reconnected, and the supply water to the system is turned back on. It is recommended to flush the new filter properly before using the drinking water. This flushing process helps remove any air or loose carbon fines from the new cartridge, ensuring the water is ready for consumption.

A critical maintenance feature is the filter cartridge reset function. After replacing a filter cartridge, the corresponding filter cartridge life needs to be reset so that the system can accurately monitor its life again. This is done via dedicated reset buttons for each filter type (RO, CB, CF).

  • Manual Reset: To reset a filter, the user presses and holds the specific filter cartridge reset button for 3 seconds. The button indicator will start blinking, and a beep will sound, signaling the start of the reset process. Releasing the button and then pressing and holding it again for another 3 seconds until a second beep sounds completes the reset. If the reset is not completed within 10 seconds, the reset mode will be canceled.
  • Flush Mode: After any filter cartridge is successfully reset, the system initiates a filter cartridge flush mode. During this time, the three indicators will blink simultaneously. This flush helps prepare the new filter for use.

The system also outlines specific autonomous flush durations for different filter types after a reset:

  • CF sediment/carbon filter cartridge: Autonomous flush for 5 minutes.
  • RO membrane filter cartridge: Turn on the drinking faucet to flush for 30 minutes.
  • CB post carbon filter cartridge: Turn on the drinking faucet to flush for 15 minutes.
  • When RO membrane and CF or CB filters are reset simultaneously: First, an autonomous flush for 5 minutes, then turn on the drinking faucet to flush for 30 minutes.
  • When CF and CB filters are reset simultaneously: First, an autonomous flush for 5 minutes, then turn on the drinking faucet to flush CB filters for 15 minutes.

The actual filter cartridge life can vary depending on local tap water quality and daily usage. The recommended replacement times are averages based on normal water quality. If the local water quality has high levels of impurities, the filter life may differ from the recommended schedule, and filters might need to be replaced sooner if they become clogged. This adaptability ensures that the system continues to provide high-quality water even in varying conditions.
