FUNCTION
The intelligent refl ective beam detector is a compact
detector for detecting smoke in large open areas such
as atria, warehouses, theatres and churches. It also
has a built-in 20D negative bi-directional short circuit
isolator.
The transmitter and receiver form a single unit
mounted to a wall of the building. A refl ector which
returns the IR beam from the transmitter to the
receiver is mounted on the opposite wall. In the event
of smoke partially obscuring the light an imbalance
between the transmitted and received light will occur.
On interrogation by the control panel the detector will
then transmit an alarm value.
The intelligent refl ective beam detector is an addition
to the Apollo range and not a replacement for the
XP95 loop-powered beam detector.
FEATURES
The intelligent refl ective beam detector is supplied in
two versions: one for use at distances of 5–50m from
detector to refl ector and the other for distances of
50100m.
The detector is factory set to a beam obscuration of
35% which is the best setting for most factories and
warehouses. The setting can be changed to 25% for
of ces and clean areas such as theatres or to 50% for
hostile areas such as mills or foundries.
The detector compensates automatically for gradual
contamination of the lenses in order to avoid false
alarms.
The detector is non-latching and resets 30 seconds
after an alarm event ceases and in 3 seconds after the
removal of a fault.
A termination backbox, part no 29600-241, is available.
This allows easy fi rst fi xing of the cabling and termina-
tions to the intelligent refl ective beam detector. The
termination backbox can be surface or fl ush mounted.

Why Apollo 55000-273 Security Sensors trigger alarm condition without fire?
    • J
      Juan PriceJul 26, 2025
An alarm condition without a fire in Apollo Security Sensors can occur due to several reasons. The beam might be partially obscured, so check the beam's line of sight. Also, the transmitter or receiver could be contaminated, in this case you should clean the lenses and/or reflectors. Finally, environmental conditions such as condensation may be a factor; check for such symptoms.

What to do if amber LED is flashing in operating mode on Apollo 55000-273?
    • V
      Vanessa CooperJul 31, 2025
If the amber LED is flashing in operating mode on your Apollo Security Sensors, it indicates that the beam is out of alignment. To resolve this, align the beam.

What to do if Apollo 55000-273 Security Sensors device is not recognised?
    • D
      Danny ThomasAug 5, 2025
If your Apollo Security Sensors device is not being recognized, it might be due to type code incompatibility. To address this, contact the control panel manufacturer to check compatibility.

    • M
      Martha StarkAug 10, 2025
If the red LED illuminates after alignment on your Apollo Security Sensors, it could be due to the panel software. Check the analogue value at the control panel, then reset.

What to do if unable to obtain red flashing alignment LED on Apollo 55000-273?
    • S
      suzanne55Aug 15, 2025
If you are unable to obtain a red flashing alignment LED on your Apollo Security Sensors, it is likely due to no power to the detector. Check the wiring to ensure it is properly connected.

How to fix unable to obtain amber flashing alignment LED on Apollo 55000-273 Security Sensors?
    • J
      James McgeeSep 12, 2025
If you're unable to get the amber flashing alignment LED on your Apollo Security Sensors, the issue is likely that there's no power reaching the detector. You should check the wiring.
