CHECK DATA
CHECKING THE GENERATOR
Disconnect the yellow wire from the regulator.
Start the engine and run it at 6000 rpm.
Using a tester in A.C. voltmeter mode, test the voltage
between:
generator yellow and ground wires = reading
greater than 35 V.
Using a tester in A.C. ammeter mode, test the current
between:
generator yellow and ground wires = reading
greater than 5 A.
CHECKING THE BATTERY
Voltage without load 12.5 ± 1 V.
Electrolyte density 1.26 at 20°C (68°F).
Check the electrolyte level, topping up with distilled
water if necessary.
Check that there are no signs of sulphation; replace if
necessary.
