Overview

This document is a user manual for the AR 165 S-Q Electric Pressure Washer, a device designed for cleaning tasks using high-pressure water.

Function Description:

The AR 165 S-Q is an electric pressure washer intended for various cleaning applications. It generates a high-pressure stream of water to effectively remove dirt, grime, and other substances from surfaces. The unit is equipped with an auto-start feature, where the pump primes itself and is ready to operate when the trigger is squeezed. It also includes a detergent application system for enhanced cleaning with specially formulated detergents. The pressure washer is designed for consumer use and should not be used in rental or commercial applications.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: AR 165 S-Q
  • Max PSI (lbs/sq. in.): 1750
  • Max GPM (Gal/per min): 1.3
  • Cold Water: Yes (only cold water should be used)
  • Volts: 120
  • Frequency (Hz): 60
  • Amps: 13
  • Weight (lbs.): 18
  • Water Supply: Maximum 150 PSI
  • Electrical Protection: Equipped with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) built into the power-supply cord plug for electric shock protection.
  • Insulation: Double-insulated product.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The manual provides clear, step-by-step instructions for assembling the unit, including attaching the cord hook, high-pressure hose, spray gun, extension lance, and nozzles. It also details how to connect the quick connect filter and garden hose adapter to the water inlet.
  • Spray Gun and Nozzles:
    • The spray gun (E) connects to the high-pressure hose (D).
    • It features a trigger safety lock (E) to prevent accidental operation. The lock button should always be in the "safe" (locked) position when not in use.
    • The extension lance (F) connects to the spray gun.
    • Two types of nozzles are included: a Rotary Nozzle (H) and an Adjustable Nozzle (G).
    • The Adjustable Nozzle (G) allows for varying spray patterns, from a 0° concentrated high-pressure beam to a low-pressure large fan spray, by twisting the nozzle.
    • Nozzles connect by pushing them into place until a "click" is heard and are removed by pressing a button on the extension lance and pulling the nozzle out.
  • Detergent Application:
    • The detergent bottle (B) connects directly onto the spray gun (E).
    • It is designed for low-pressure detergent application, which is effective for breaking down dirt and grime.
    • Only detergents specifically formulated for power washers should be used. Thick or gel-like detergents can clog the nozzle.
    • Detergent should be applied to a dry surface, not pre-soaked areas, to maximize cleaning ability.
    • For vertical surfaces, apply detergent from lower surfaces upwards to prevent streaks. Rinse from bottom up.
  • Operation:
    • Ensure the "ON/OFF" switch is in the "OFF" (O) position before plugging in.
    • Plug the power cord into a grounded 120-volt outlet.
    • Turn on the water supply at the faucet.
    • Release the safety lock on the spray gun and squeeze the trigger to purge air and water from the hose until a steady stream of water emerges.
    • Turn the power switch to the "ON" (1) position. The unit will turn on briefly and then shut off, which is normal for the auto-start feature.
    • Begin power washing by fully squeezing the spray gun trigger.
    • Releasing the trigger stops the power washer. Allow the motor to come to a complete stop before squeezing the trigger again.
    • Avoid rapid squeezing and releasing of the trigger to prevent issues with the auto-start feature.
    • Always test a small area first to avoid damaging the surface.
    • The motor running intermittently when the trigger is not squeezed is normal, as the pump is priming.
  • Safety Information: The manual emphasizes numerous safety precautions, including wearing eye protection, never spraying at people, animals, or electrical devices, using the trigger safety lock, avoiding flammable liquids or combustible areas, and ensuring all components are securely connected. It also warns against using hot water, extension cords, or operating the unit unattended.

Maintenance Features:

  • Nozzle Cleaning:
    • A clogged or partially clogged nozzle can reduce water pressure and cause pulsation.
    • Use the provided nozzle cleaning wire (L) or a straightened paper clip to clear debris from the nozzle hole.
    • Back flush water through the nozzles using a garden hose to dislodge debris.
  • Garden Hose Adapter Cleaning: The screen inside the clear garden hose adapter (I) should be cleaned periodically by rinsing with clean water.
  • O-Ring Lubrication: The o-rings on the bayonet end of the nozzle lance should be cleaned regularly and lubricated with non-water soluble grease (e.g., petroleum jelly). An O-Ring Replacement Kit (M) is included.
  • Storage:
    • After use, turn off the power switch, unplug the power cord, and turn off the water supply.
    • Relieve any remaining pressure by squeezing the spray gun trigger.
    • Disconnect the garden hose adapter and high-pressure hose.
    • Store the gun and lance in their designated holsters/slots on the unit.
    • Discard any remaining detergent from the bottle and flush the bottle and nozzle head with fresh water to prevent clogging.
    • Freezing Protection: Store the power washer indoors to prevent water from freezing and damaging the unit. If outdoor storage is necessary, use a "Pump Saver" (PW64511, 16oz. bottle, not included) to protect the pump from freezing and internal corrosion.
  • Pump Saver Application:
    • Turn off the unit and disconnect all hoses.
    • Screw the garden hose adapter (I) onto the threaded top of the Pump Saver bottle.
    • Push the garden hose adapter (I) and Pump Saver bottle firmly into the clear quick connect filter (J) on the pressure washer inlet.
    • Turn the power washer on. Turn it off as soon as the Pump Saver begins to exit the pump outlet.
