Overview

This document is a user manual for an Arçelik dishwasher, specifically models 6344, 6344 A, and 6344 /. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, preparation, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Arçelik dishwasher is designed for domestic use to clean dishes, silverware, and other kitchen utensils. It features a water softening system to adapt to varying water hardness, a detergent dispenser for powder, liquid/gel, or tablet detergents, and a rinse aid dispenser to enhance drying and prevent water stains. The dishwasher accommodates various dish sizes and types through adjustable and collapsible basket components.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Input: 220-240 V, 50 Hz (as per rating label)
  • Total Power Consumption: 1800-2100 W (as per rating label)
  • Heater Power Consumption: 1800 W (as per rating label)
  • Total Current: 10 A (as per rating label)
  • Drain Pump Power Consumption: 30 W (as per rating label)
  • Water Pressure: 0.3-10 bar (3 – 100 N/cm² = 0.01-1.0 Mpa)
  • Permitted Water Temperature: Up to 25°C
  • Compliance: EU WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU), EU RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU), 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU, 93/68/EC, IEC 60436/DIN 44990, EN 50242.
  • Dimensions (Overview): The manual illustrates the dishwasher's components, including an upper basket, upper impeller, lower impeller, silverware basket, door, rating label, control panel, detergent dispenser, lower basket, filters, salt reservoir lid, upper basket rail, upper cutlery basket (model dependent), and tabletop (model dependent).

Usage Features

  • Installation: The dishwasher requires connection to a grounded electrical outlet, a water supply with appropriate pressure (0.3-10 bar, max 25°C), and a drain. It should be placed on a solid, flat floor, at least 1 cm from other furniture, and not on long pile rugs. The product should be unplugged during installation and maintenance.
  • Initial Use: Before first use, it's recommended to run the shortest program with detergent while the machine is empty to prepare it for washing.
  • Water Softening System: The system reduces water hardness. Special softening salts (granule or powder form) must be used. Salt should be added before operating the machine, and the salt reservoir lid (A) should be turned counter-clockwise to open. The system needs to be adjusted based on mains water hardness (if over 7°dH).
  • Detergent Dispenser: Compatible with powder, liquid/gel, or tablet detergents. The dispenser has level markings (15 cm³ or 25 cm³) for powder detergent, with a brimful capacity of 45 cm³. The lid (A) opens by pushing a latch to the right and closes with a "click." For short programs without prewash, powder or liquid/gel detergents are recommended as tablet solubility varies with temperature and time.
  • Rinse Aid Dispenser: The rinse aid improves drying efficiency and prevents water/lime stains. The reservoir lid opens with a latch and should be filled to the "MAX" level. The amount of rinse aid dispensed can be adjusted by simultaneously pressing "Time Delay" and "On/Off" keys, then using "Time Delay" to set the level (0-4 doses) and "Programme Start/Pause/Cancel" to store.
  • Loading Dishes: Dishes should be wiped of coarse food remnants before loading. Heavily soiled and larger items go in the lower basket, while smaller, delicate items go in the upper basket. Hollowed dishes should be placed upside down. Sharp items like knives and forks should be placed pointed ends down or horizontally to prevent injury. Unload the lower basket first, then the upper.
  • Basket Configuration (Model Dependent):
    • Lower Basket: Features collapsible wires (6 or 4 pieces) and tines (A) for easier placement of large items like pans and bowls. These can be folded down by pressing a latch (A) or pushing from the mid-position (B). A bottle wire (H) can be removed for long, wide-mouthed pieces. A multipurpose/height adjustable service rack allows washing extra glasses, ladles, and bread knives, and can be adjusted in height (E, F, G) or folded (A, B, C, D). SoftTouch Accessory and Glass Holder provide safe washing for fragile and oversized glasses.
    • Upper Basket: Features height adjustable racks (A, B, C) for glasses and cups. An upper basket drawer can hold additional desert spoons, small forks, and knives. A glass support piece (1) helps secure long-stemmed glasses, and its tab can be released to create wider space (2). Collapsible wires (1) can be folded down for larger dishes (2).
  • Basket Height Adjustment:
    • Empty Basket: The upper basket's height can be changed using wheels mounted at two different heights. Latches on the tracks are released, the basket is pulled out, repositioned, and latches are pushed back.
    • Loaded Basket: The upper basket height adjustment mechanism allows changing height in three positions (lower, middle, upper) without removing the basket. To raise, lift the basket wires (A) until a "Click" is heard. To lower, hold wires, slightly lift, and simultaneously push and release latches (B). Ensure both sides are at the same level.
  • Upper Cutlery Basket (Model Dependent): Designed for small dishes or long items that don't fit in the lower basket. It can be easily removed (A, B, C) and re-inserted (D) to facilitate loading/unloading or to create more space.
  • Ceiling Cutlery Basket (Model Dependent): Designed for cutlery items, placed between bars. Some models have a partial movement feature where pushing a bar (1) lowers the central tray, allowing long/high items like coffee cups to be loaded. Side trays can lean on walls, and the handle can be pulled to raise the central tray and lock the system.

Maintenance Features

  • General Cleaning: Unplug the product and turn off the tap before cleaning. Do not use abrasive substances.
  • Outer Surface: Wipe gently with a mild cleaning material and damp cloth. The control panel should only be wiped with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Interior: Clean the interior and tank by running a program with or without detergent. If water remains, drain it by canceling a program; if drainage fails, clean the filters.
  • Filters: Clean at least once a week. Turn the micro filter (1) and coarse filter (2) assembly counter-clockwise to remove. Pull out the metal/plastic filter (3). Press pawls to separate the coarse filter. Clean all three filters under tap water with a brush. Reassemble, ensuring proper seating, and turn the coarse filter clockwise until a "click" is heard. Do not operate without filters.
  • Hose Filter: Check and clean regularly to prevent damage from impurities in the water supply. Turn off the tap, remove the hose, clean the filter under running water, place it back in the hose, and re-install the hose to the tap.
  • Impellers: Clean at least once a week. Check for clogging. The lower impeller (1) can be pulled up for removal. The upper impeller (1) requires turning its nut to the left for removal. Ensure the nut is tightened well upon reinstallation.
