  Several factors can cause this. The filter holder coupling seat holes or the exit hole of the filter might be clogged—try turning on the machine without the filter holder to run water through, or clean the filter hole with a pin and consider using Ariete COFFEE CLEAN tabs. The coffee blend might be ground too finely or pressed down too much; try using a coarser blend and tamping with less pressure. Also, ensure the tank is securely inserted and has enough water.

  This usually happens because there's too much coffee in the filter, preventing a tight seal, or there are coffee residues on the gasket. Remove the filter holder and clean the coupling seat.   This can happen if air has entered the circuit, deactivating the pump, or if the steam exit hole is clogged. Make sure the tank is properly inserted and that the water is not below the minimum level, then repeat the operations described in the “Preliminary phases for use” paragraph. If that doesn't work, unclog any deposits that may have formed in the hole of the dispenser wand with a pin.
