Function Description

The ASKO D5646 XXL is a dishwasher designed with Scandinavian principles, emphasizing clean lines, everyday functionality, and high quality. It offers various wash programs and options to cater to different dishwashing needs and levels of dirtiness.

Wash Programs:

• Auto Wash: Automatically adjusts water consumption and temperature based on dish dirtiness. Requires five initial runs to fully adapt.
• Time Program: Adapts to a specified running or finish time, with options for slightly dirty (0:30-1:15), normally dirty (1:30-2:00), and very dirty (2:15-3:00) dishes.
• Heavy Wash: For very dirty items like pans, casserole dishes, and oven dishes.
• Normal Program: For normally soiled loads such as plates, serving dishes, cups, and glasses. This is the program used for energy label performance figures.
• Daily Wash: Suitable for day-to-day dishwashing, including dried leftovers, but not burnt food.
• Quick Wash: For slightly dirty glasses and porcelain, such as coffee cups.
• Hygiene Wash: Designed to meet strict hygiene demands.
• Delicate Wash: For not very dirty glasses and porcelain, requiring a less powerful program. Can be used with "Short dry" for extra caution.
• Eco Wash: Designed to save water for normally dirty dishes.
• Upper Half Wash: For washing cups and glasses in the upper basket, with slightly dirty dishes also permissible in the lower basket.
• Lower Half Wash: For washing plates and cutlery in the lower basket, with slightly dirty dishes also permissible in the upper basket.
• Rinse & Hold: Used to rinse dishes while waiting for the dishwasher to be fully loaded, preventing unpleasant odors.

Options:

• High Temperature: Activates a higher temperature for the main wash, improving dishwashing results. Temperatures vary by program (e.g., Heavy wash: 60°C/70°C, Normal program: 48°C/65°C).
• Long Dry: Increases the final rinse temperature and extends drying time for improved drying results, with a slight increase in energy consumption. Not available for Time program, Hygiene wash, and Rinse & Hold.
• Short Dry: An energy-saving option. Drying results are improved by leaving the door slightly open after the program finishes.
• Delayed Start: Allows the dishwasher to start 1-24 hours after pressing the Start/Stop button.

Safety Features:

• Child Safety Lock (Kid Lock™): A mechanical lock to prevent children from opening the dishwasher door. Activated by turning a screw slot to a vertical position.
• Child Lock (Kid Safe™): A button lock to prevent children from starting the dishwasher. Temporarily deactivated by pressing the High temperature and Long dry buttons simultaneously.
• Overflow Guard Function: Automatically pumps out water and turns off the supply if the water level exceeds normal.

Usage Features

Loading:

• Baskets: Equipped with a top cutlery tray, an upper basket, and a lower basket with a cutlery basket. Basket appearance may vary by model.
• Top Cutlery Tray: Space for cutlery, ladles, whisks, and serving cutlery. Wine glasses can be placed on the wine glass shelf, and knives on the knife stand (if fitted).
• Upper Basket: For glasses, cups, bowls, side plates, and saucers. Dirty surfaces should face inwards and downwards. The upper basket height can be adjusted.
• Lower Basket: For plates, side plates, serving dishes, pots, and cutlery. Pots and pans should be placed in the rear right part for optimal dishwashing from the WideSpray™ nozzles.
• Foldable Tines: Available in both upper and lower baskets to accommodate larger items like pots, bowls, and glasses.
• Cutlery Basket: Best placed in the middle at the front of the lower basket to utilize the Power Zone Cutlery™ spray nozzle. Knives and pointed items should be placed with points down or horizontally. Includes a fold-down section for small items.
• Vase and Bottle Holder: Specific holders for these items.
• Pre-rinsing: Scrape off large food particles; do not rinse under running water to save energy.

Detergent and Rinse Aid:

• Detergent Compartments: One for prewash and one for main wash.
• Detergent Type: Use only dishwasher detergent. Washing-up liquid is not suitable.
• Dishwasher Tablets: Halve if the dispenser lid is tight to ensure proper release. Not recommended for programs less than 75 minutes.
• 3-in-1/All-in-one Detergent: Follow manufacturer instructions.
• Rinse Aid: Improves drying results and dishwashing performance, especially for glassware. The rinse aid indicator lights up when topping up is needed. Dosage can be adjusted from 0 (Off) to 6 (High dose) via settings.

Operation:

• Start/Stop: Press and hold to start the dishwasher. The display shows the door open symbol when ready to start.
• Time Remaining: Displays the program duration from the last run. Updates after the final rinse water is heated.
• Stopping/Changing Program: Open the door, press and hold Start/Stop for three seconds. Add detergent if needed, then select a new program, press Start/Stop, and close the door.
• Adding Dishes: Open the door; the dishwasher pauses automatically. Add dishes, close the door, and the program resumes.
• Power Interruption: If the program is interrupted due to power failure, it resumes when power is restored.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

• Coarse Filter: Traps larger food particles. Should be emptied as necessary. The dishwasher must not be used without the filter.
• Fine Filter: Automatically rinsed during each wash, but should be cleaned a couple of times a year along with its pipe section.
• Drainage Pump: Accessible from inside the dishwasher. Requires power disconnection, removal of coarse filter and pipe section, and removal of a small yellow fitted piece to clear blockages.
• Spray Arms: Holes and bearings can become blocked. Remove debris with a pin. Spray arms can be removed for cleaning.
• Door Edge: Clean with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid spraying water around the door lock to prevent electrical component damage.
• Limescale Deposits: Run the Normal program with high temperature and two tablespoons of citric acid in the detergent compartment (without dishes) to remove deposits.
• Front Panel: Keep touch buttons clean and free from grease. Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Turn off the dishwasher before cleaning to avoid unintentional activation.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues, including:

• Display Error Codes: F:10 (Overfilling), F:11 (Water outlet fault), F:12 (Water inlet fault), F:40 (Inlet valve leakage).
• Dishes Not Clean: Possible causes include non-rotating spray arms, old detergent, incorrect detergent dosage, weak program, or incorrect loading.

• Program Taking Longer Than Estimated: Normal variation; corrected time will display next run.
• Water Remains in Dishwasher: Blocked or kinked drainage hose, blocked or incorrectly fitted filters, debris in drainage pump.
• Bad Odor: Dirt around seals and in corners, low temperature programs used for too long.
• Dishes Not Dry Enough: Low drying power, dishwasher not fully loaded, low rinse aid or incorrect dosage.
• Cannot Close Door: Baskets not correctly positioned or dishes blocking baskets.
• Touch Buttons Not Reacting: Buttons pressed too soon after opening door, dirt on buttons, door not open enough (indicated by symbol), child lock activated.

Installation:

• Types: Can be installed built-in, completely freestanding, or partially built-in.
• Connections: Electricity, water, and drainage must be performed by a qualified professional following applicable regulations.
• Water Supply: Connect to cold water (if using oil or electricity for home heating) or hot water (max. 70°C, if using district heating, solar, or geothermal power to save energy).
• Drainage Connection: Hose must be attached at the same height as the underside of the sink unit to prevent backflow. The connection pipe on the sink unit's water trap must have an internal diameter of at least 14 mm.
• Adjusting Height: Feet can be adjusted to match worktop height.
