2.1.3 AFUWIN utility
The AFUWIN utility allows you to update the BIOS le in a Windows
®
environment.
To update the BIOS using AFUWIN:
1. Download the latest BIOS le for your motherboard from the ASUS
website (www.asus.com) and save the BIOS le to a new folder.
2. Copy the AFUWIN utilities (Afwin.exe and AMIFLDrv.sys) from the
motherboard support CD to the folder with the downloaded BIOS le.
3. Click
Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt to run the
DOS command promt. You can also click Start > RUN, then type cmd
at the prompt.
4. From the command prompt, change the directory to the folder with
the BIOS le and AFUWIN utilities, then type:
afuwin /i[BIOS lename]
Write the BIOS lename on a piece of paper. You need to type the exact
BIOS lename at the DOS prompt later.
C:\BIOS>afuwin /iP5L-MXIP.ROM
5. The utility returns to the command prompt after the BIOS update
process is completed. Type Exit to return to Windows.
C:\BIOS>afuwin /iP5L-MXIP.ROM

The utility veries the le and starts updating the BIOS.
Do not shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS to
prevent system boot failure!
6. Restart your computer.
