What to do if water is leaking from my Atag Refrigerator?
    • D
      Dr. Jacob FrancisAug 9, 2025
If water is leaking from your Atag Refrigerator, it could be due to a clogged water discharge opening or water dripping past the water gutter. Try cleaning the clogged opening, for example, by using a plastic straw. Also, if a thick layer of ice builds up, defrost the appliance manually.

Why is my Atag Refrigerator cooling system running constantly?
    • P
      Patrick CarlsonAug 13, 2025
If your Atag Refrigerator's cooling system runs continuously for a long time, it could be due to several factors. These include too high environment temperature, the door being opened too frequently or for too long, the door not closing correctly (due to impurities on the seal, a misaligned door, or a damaged seal), inserting too much fresh food at once, or insufficient compressor and condenser unit cooling. In the latter case, clean the condenser unit.

    • M
      Mitchell JonesSep 12, 2025
If you hear a sound alarm from your Atag Refrigerator, it could be due to excessive dust on the condenser unit. Check the air circulation through the bottom rail openings and clean or vacuum the dust from the condenser if necessary.

    • S
      Stephanie GomezAug 25, 2025
If you find excessive ice build-up on the back wall of your Atag Refrigerator, it may be because the door is opened too frequently or for too long, warm food has been placed inside, food is touching the back interior wall, or the door seal is poor. Additionally, if the seal is dirty or damaged, clean or replace it.

Overview

This document provides instructions for use of the ATAG KU1190A refrigerator.

Function Description

The ATAG KU1190A is a refrigerator designed for household use, specifically for storing fresh food at temperatures above 0°C. It features an automatic defrosting system for the refrigerator compartment, eliminating the need for manual defrosting under normal conditions. The appliance is equipped with a cooling system that includes a compressor, which generates some operational noise.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Appliance Class and Temperature Range: The refrigerator is designed to operate correctly within specific ambient temperature ranges depending on its class:
    • SN (subnormal): from +10°C to +32°C
    • N (normal): from +16°C to +32°C
    • ST (subtropical): from +16°C to +38°C
    • T (tropical): from +16°C to +43°C The appliance class is indicated on the rating plate.
  • Refrigerant: The amount of refrigerant is stated on the rating plate, and the room where the appliance is installed should have at least 1 m³ of space per 8 grams of refrigerant.
  • Height Adjustment: The appliance has four height-adjustable feet, allowing its height to be set between 82 cm and 90 cm to fit under a worktop.
  • Power Connection: The appliance must be connected to a grounded power mains. Nominal voltage and frequency are indicated on the rating plate. It can withstand short-term deviations from nominal voltage of up to +/- 6%.
  • Interior Lighting: The refrigerator includes interior lighting.
  • Bulb Type: The appliance uses special purpose E14 bulb lamps, which are considered a consumable and are not suitable for household room illumination.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Control: The appliance is operated via a thermostat knob (A) with settings from 0 (STOP) to 7. Higher settings (towards 7) correspond to lower (cooler) temperatures. A medium setting is recommended for normal environment temperatures. The appliance can be turned on by rotating the knob clockwise to position 7 and turned off by rotating it back to STOP (0). When set to STOP (0), the cooling system is off, but the appliance is still powered (interior light will illuminate when the door is opened).
  • Adjustable Shelving: The refrigerator interior features glass shelves whose height can be adjusted using guides. They are designed to prevent being completely pulled out. To adjust or remove a shelf, lift it, pull it towards you to the clearance in the guides, set the desired height, and then push it back.
  • Fruit and Vegetable Bin: Located at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment, below the serving tray, this bin provides adequate humidity to slow down the drying out of stored fruit and vegetables.
  • Serving Tray: Positioned above the fruit and vegetable bin, it can function as both a refrigerator compartment shelf and a serving tray.
  • Door Bins: The interior side of the refrigerator door has bins for storing items like cheese, butter, eggs, yogurt, and other small packages. A bottle shelf is located at the lower end of the door.
  • Adjustable Door Bin: The height of the door bins can be adjusted by squeezing tabs on both sides and moving the bin up or down. To remove a bin, lift it as far as it will go and pull it out.
  • Storage Bin (MultiBox) (model-dependent): This bin is designed for storing food with strong or pungent smells (e.g., ripened cheese, sausages, onions). It comes with a silicone lid that provides an airtight seal, preventing food from drying out and odors from spreading. The silicone lid can also be used as an egg or ice tray. If used as an egg tray, it is placed directly on the bottom of the door bin, allowing the open lower part of the MultiBox to store smaller packages.
  • Food Storage Recommendations:
    • Store food in tightly sealed containers or appropriate packaging to prevent odor transfer.
    • Cool food to room temperature before placing it in the appliance.
    • Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator compartment.
    • Do not store inflammable, volatile, or explosive substances.
    • Tightly seal and store bottles with high alcohol content in an upright position.
    • Be aware that organic solutions, essential oils from citrus peels, and butter acid can damage plastic surfaces over prolonged contact.
    • Recommended storage times are provided for various food types (e.g., eggs/marinades/smoked meat up to 10 days, fish/raw minced meat/seafood up to 1 day).

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the appliance from the power mains before cleaning.
    • Use a soft cloth with water or a mild solution of suds for cleaning.
    • Avoid abrasive substances, acids, or solvents as they can damage surfaces.
    • Lacquer-coated and aluminum surfaces can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild detergent.
    • Cleaners with low alcohol content (e.g., window cleaners) are allowed, but avoid alcohol-containing cleaners for plastic materials.
    • The interior can be cleaned with lukewarm water and some vinegar.
    • Regularly inspect and clean the gutter and opening underneath the cooling panel to prevent clogging (e.g., with a plastic straw).
    • Remove frost or ice build-up (3-5 mm thick) to prevent increased power consumption. Do not use sharp objects, solvents, or sprays.
  • Condenser Unit Cleaning:
    • To vacuum dust from the condenser unit, remove the cabinet kickplate, release the latch in the switchboard openings, pull out the plate, remove the condensate tray, and then use a vacuum cleaner. Reassemble in reverse order.
    • An excessive dust build-up on the condenser unit may trigger a sound alarm when the door is opened.
  • Automatic Defrosting: The refrigerator compartment automatically defrosts. Melted ice water is collected in a groove/gutter, drained through a hole, and discharged into a condensate tray at the bottom of the appliance base. If an excessive ice layer (3-5 mm) forms on the rear wall, manually defrost the appliance by switching it off and emptying the condensate tray.
  • Replacing the Bulb: Disconnect the appliance from the power mains. Insert a screwdriver into the slot of the cover, lift and remove it. Replace the bulb with a new E14 bulb of the same power rating as the original. Do not dispose of the blown bulb with organic waste.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues such as the appliance not working, continuous cooling system operation, excessive ice build-up, water leakage, and difficulty opening the door. If problems persist, contact an authorized service center with the appliance's type, model, and serial number.
