Introduction
If
you are a
first-time
computer
user,
your
Atari may seem a
little
confusing
at
first.
However
, using a
computer
is
really very
simpl
e.
In this chapter,
we
hop
e to show
you
exactly
how
simple
your
Atari
is
by
showing
you step-by-step
how
to
install and
operate it.
Installing the Atari
800
First
of
all,
when
you unpack
your
Atari
800,
save the carton and
packing
material. These
should
be used
if
the
Atari
is
to
be
moved
or
stored.
The Atari
800
is
easy
to install. First
of
al
l, install eit
her
a
video
monitor
via
the
monitor
jack
on
the side
of
the
console
or
a
TV
set using
the
TV
sw
itch box.
The
TV
switch
box
has
been designed
so
that
it
can be
permanently
installed on
your
TV
set,
as
it
allows regular
TV
reception
as
well
as
video
output
for
the Atari. The
TV
switch box
ha
s
an
adhesive backing that can be used
to
attach it
to
the back
of
your
TV
set.
The
TV
switch
box
contains a switch
marked
Computer
/
TV
.
When
this switch
is
at
the
Computer
position,
the
TV
set receives
its signals
from
the
Atari
800
.
When
the switch
is
set
to
the
TV
position
,
the
TV
set receives its signals
from
your
television
antenna.
To install
the
TV
switch box, first
of
all,
disconnect
your
television
antenna
from
the VHF terminals
at
the
back
of
your
TV
set. The
antenna
should
be
either
of
the fo
